According to a recent report from market research firm IDC, Google will sell about 38 million Pixel smartphones between its launch in 2016 and 2023.
Sales of Pixel phones have more than doubled in recent years, with cumulative sales now approaching 40 million since their launch seven years ago, said Francisco Geronimo, vice president of global market research at IDC.
The past 12 months have been a high point for Google Pixel phone sales, with sales reaching around 10 million, driven by the launch of the Pixel 7 last year.
Google launched the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in the fourth quarter of last year, followed by the relatively affordable Pixel 7a last May and the foldable Pixel Fold.
Google recently launched its Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro phones, which cost $100 more this year than the previous versions from last year.
According to the American company's announcement, in addition to supporting updates for up to seven years and supporting hardware components by providing spare parts, owners of these phones will also benefit from exclusive artificial intelligence features, which may justify the price increase.
Google Pixel phones sell well in the United States, Japan and some European countries, but their distribution in other markets remains limited.
It is worth noting that Google itself has not issued official sales data for Pixel phones yet.
