Messaging platform WhatsApp is overhauling its user interface based on feedback from the latest beta version of the app on Android.
The platform adopts Google's third-generation "Material Design 3" design language in the new app interface and adds the ability to quickly filter messages. The top bar has also undergone some changes, including the addition of a white background.
At the top of the Chats home page, users will find four different message filtering options, called Chat Filters, which allow you to show all conversations (which is the default) or show only non-chat conversations based on the type of personal or work account.
WhatsApp redesigned the top bar to add personal photos, and changed the background of this area to white and the color of the application logo to green, while the entire background appears black when night mode is activated.
The new app interface is still under development and may undergo further changes before it is available to all users. Similar changes are expected to be made to the app interface on iPhone.
The platform is also testing moving the navigation bar position to the bottom of the screen on Android, similar to the iPhone version of the app.
Through these new interface changes, WhatsApp aims to improve the experience of using the most popular messaging application in the world.
