Photo and video sharing platform Snapchat is planning to partner with Microsoft to show ads on its artificial intelligence-based chatbot My AI.
Snap, which owns the platform, had previously announced plans to display sponsored ad links in users' conversations with bots.
For example, when the My AI bot is asked where to eat, its answers will include links to local restaurants and food delivery apps, the company said. The bot takes the same approach when answering questions about vacation spots and reservations. Flights, hotels as well as product purchases.
Under an agreement between the two companies, Microsoft will provide Snap with advertising links to connect users in conversations with advertisers. Microsoft will soon offer new advertising services on Snapchat for advertisers in the US and other countries.
It is worth noting that Microsoft itself has begun testing the inclusion of ads in its “Bing Chat” robot to take advantage of the advertising space available to it as an advertising partner, which, according to Microsoft, serves more than 7,500 companies and brands.
In this context, Google has begun testing displaying ads in the new AI-based search experience (SGE) in the United States.
Snapchat made the My AI bot available to users a few months ago and it is primarily based on OpenAI's GPT-4 model.
On the other hand, this cooperation represents a victory for Microsoft in the advertising sector after another cooperation was achieved with Netflix, but there is still a big gap in the online advertising market in competition with Google and Meta.
