First, if this is equivalent to implementing an entry-level Omada OC200+ER605+ adapter, the three-in-one solution will surely appeal to many home users and small businesses.
I was hoping this would replace the OC200+ER605+TL-SG2210MP; However, after linking the current setup to the ER7212 PC, it works, but it's definitely not the same as the old setup:
1. Can't migrate from OC200 to ER7212 - Not a big deal for me since I only have 1 router, 1 managed switch and 3 access points; However, in a small office, this may be a major hurdle for IT staff.
2. Switch Function - This is definitely not an Omada managed switch, but maybe just a smart and convenient managed switch that supports very limited advanced features.
3. Speed/Performance – UI speed is less than OC200 and performance (session, traffic handling capacity, etc.) is less than OC200. - This is somewhat understandable because you need a number of devices to manage the functions of the console, router and switch.
A final word: this might be a good fit for people who haven't used SDN before or are just migrating to Omada. However, this work is still in progress. Hopefully, TP-Link will release a new firmware that will add more advanced features.
