Teclast 13 10 Inch Android Tablet, P40HD 16GB RAM 128GB ROM (1TB TF) Android Tablet with 8 Core CPU, 2.4G/5G WiFi + 4G Cellular Tablet, IPS 1920 x 1200, BT 5.0, GPS , 6000 mAh, dual camera 5MP + 13MP
The screen is great. (I tried to take pictures but I don't have a good camera on my phone but trust me)
It's a native 1920 x 1200 display with good pixel density for the size, the aspect ratio is a good compromise to 16:9 paper/film, and older content measures very well.
For example, 240p content (like many older games) lends itself well to 5x integer upscaling, which isn't possible with a 1920 x 1080 display.
If you enjoy the games, you'll have no problem emulating them on your PSP, and you could probably do better with a more advanced system. It has 8 Mediatek MT8183 4/4 cores, 2 G72 Mali cores and 1 AI acceleration core.
For those who don't know, MediaTek produces ARM processors mainly for the Chinese market and offers excellent value for money. Basically, Taipower has done a really good job of localizing these devices for the US market.
The sound is good, there are two good speakers and the 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack is also excellent.
The build quality is good, and it is made of aluminum. It feels solid in the hand and has a good weight. Using the touch controls, I can watch an hour-long anime movie or play a half-hour role-playing game.
As with most (all?) Android devices, input lag on the touchscreen is quite high and prone to judder. You'll need to use an external gamepad to play action games (I like the wired Nintendo Switch controller connected to a USB-C hub), or if you're already composing music, you'll need to use some type of MIDI or OSC. Contribute to making time for this (I haven't tried a music production setup since).
This is a real problem with the Android operating system itself and the way it handles touch input. It's a shame for Google that this problem has not been solved for so many years! ! !
This brings me to the only downside I have about this tablet: it does not support PD power, so only the 5V 2A power adapter (included) is recommended. It can take a while to fully charge the tablet, and if you use a USB hub to play games, sometimes there's not enough power to keep charging when playing with the controller... so it's a bit tedious.
Teclast notes that there may be issues when charging with a USB-C PD power supply and a PD hub... I haven't tried it yet, but will update when I can. This hasn't been a big issue so far, just make sure the battery is charged during intense gaming sessions and maybe consider using a Bluetooth gaming controller unless you're playing games that require low input lag/jitter. Otherwise everything should be fine and the battery is too big so just charge it.
The only other potential downside is that there doesn't seem to be any mobile data/SIM support. However, if you have an extra SIM card, you can use a USB modem or buy a travel router (I like the GL one). Inet, it is very powerful)
WiFi support is very good. I remember trying to stay connected to WiFi with a similar tablet a few years ago and there were no issues. Even if the signal is weak/weak, you will stay connected. If you have Xfinitywifi (or similar service), this is a good choice for a WiFi-enabled tablet and you won't have any problems.
Bluetooth support... well, it's Bluetooth, so you'll have to deal with the usual bugs and glitches when listening to music. If you have a device in your hand and a speaker in your backpack, it's better than using a cable and risking damaging the analog port.
But if you're in a stable situation and have good cables and good analogue hardware on your speakers, analogue sound is great! In this case this is the correct way (IMHO). I wish they would move the analog jack a little further away from the edge of the table...it's a bit on the edge and can sometimes cause errors in detecting the connected mic. Use it only if your website is stable and has no issues.
Finally, I have to go back to the past. Its size is ideal for this type of device. I really like that they have 8GB of RAM. This is a very comfortable amount for a fresh Android install, while leaving enough RAM to run Linux/Userland on Android devices (this allows you to run full desktop versions of broken software on Android - browser, web, etc.). the) .
I also like the 128GB of RAM. This is a very useful amount that you can fill with your favorite games/music/anime/readings. This seems to be a new (better?) type of storage. (I forgot its name)... It is also said to support up to 1TB storage expansion via TF (Trans-Flash, haha), which is called "Micro SD" in the West.
Overall, it's a great tablet. I am very happy with my purchase. Well done Taipower!
