SANSUI 24" IPS 75Hz FHD 1080P 75x75mm VESA Computer Monitor with HDMI and VGA Ports Frameless/Eye Protection/Dual Speakers for Office and Home (ES-24X5AL)
We really want to like this screen if all you do is connect a streaming device to it and turn it into a smart TV (the HD version of Chromecast with Google TV is great because it can be upgraded via remote) to power your screen and sound!) - you probably You are doing a great job!
The first quality issue is connecting the bracket to the card. It's made of metal (which is good) but I almost cut my thumb when I squeezed it (luckily I have an internal blood clot in my thumb and the doctor said everything was fine). Although it hasn't arrived yet, it was comfortable enough that we decided to use it.
The next annoyance is the controls – I can't blame the Sansui, but after spending an extra $20 on the LG, the joystick controls are infinitely more intuitive (even better than Samsung's rubber cross-pads) – they're worth their starting price, i.e. To be honest, since this is a device designed to be installed once and then dropped, we don't think that matters, and in the end it's nice to know that you can adjust the colors without any internal resistance struggles. existing.
The device has speakers. We've learned the hard way that manufacturers (even good ones like Dell) cut corners and don't offer decent speakers of any value (they think you can connect external speakers, so it's a game of chance) - so why include these? everyone? Why not invest in a better screen (or menu UI!)? And that's exactly what we did with the aforementioned LG - sans speakers - the whole quality is reflected in the screen and menu interface as well as the overall feel of the look. $10 BT speakers with AUX sound better (I'm not exaggerating - we have that, but if you want a fuller sound I recommend a budget of $20-30)
I'm impressed that it comes with USB-C and HDMI cables — and while we didn't need them, we know they're worth about $15 (so keep that in mind).
They've used a power brick with this monitor that can easily be placed on the floor (compared to LG's bulky three-pin adapter that you have to plug into the wall!). So this is a plus for Sansui.
Illuminated VA panel. With a contrast and brightness ratio of just 50%, it looks just as bright as the LG's 80%. SANSUI states a ratio of 3000:1. I don't know if it's really that high, but it is (VA panels are currently better than IPS)
This is basically the cheapest USB-C monitor you can buy – and I'd say it's worth every penny. They offer Power Delivery (PD) over USB-C for devices like the iPad Pro.
Unfortunately, we're spoiled for choice when it comes to Apple's Retina displays, so a 4K display is our only way to go and we'll have to spend the extra money – there's no turning back. We'll only be using this screen as a TV that can be viewed from at least 3 meters away - it's your personal preference that will determine if 1080p is enough for you as a desktop monitor!
