Microsoft this week announced new AI features for its SwiftKey keyboard app for iOS and Android.
This third-party keyboard app allows users to replace their phone's default keyboard with a smart keyboard that learns your writing style so users can type faster.
The keyboard now includes AI camera lenses, AI stickers, an AI editor, and the ability to create AI photos in the app.
New AI camera lenses allow users to create photos, videos and GIFs with different effects, including lenses powered by a partnership between Microsoft and app maker Snapchat Snap.
According to Microsoft, there are now more than 250 tools and filter options to help you express yourself on your smartphone or tablet.
Swiftkey's AI-powered custom stickers feature lets you create new stickers based on personal photos and share them with friends and family while chatting via third-party apps like WhatsApp and Messenger. This feature uses the Bing Image Creator keyboard to take a selfie after use.
Swiftkey takes you directly to Bing Image Creator by selecting the Create function and entering a text prompt to create a new AI-generated image or illustration, which you can then send to your friends online. Bing Image Creator will soon add support for OpenAI's more advanced DALL-E 3 image generator.
Bing Image Creator, accessible directly from the keyboard, allows users to take a photo or upload an existing photo to receive Bing's visible search results in the app.
Additionally, the app has an AI-powered editing feature that helps users improve grammar, spelling, and punctuation. You can mark any sentence and receive instant comments and suggestions from the editor.
Microsoft spent months updating SwiftKey and linked the app to the Bing search engine earlier this year, allowing users to search with Bing, chat with Bing Chat, or use artificial intelligence to personalize text.
