Asus plans to sell its largest MicroLED display for up to $200,000

ASUS launches a 135-inch professional MicroLED display for those working in the content creation industry, including post-production professionals and visual effects artists. However, the size may be limited.

The ProArt Cinema PQ07 offers nearly unlimited contrast ratios, just like OLED displays, but unlike today's consumer display standards, it's not affected by automatic brightness limits.

According to Notebook Check, this means it can maintain an impressive full-field brightness of 2,000 nits.

By comparison, LG's latest OLED TVs can reach 2,100 nits, but that brightness level is limited by an automatic brightness limiter that automatically dims the screen if a white or bright image is displayed at any given time.

MicroLED displays are a relatively new display technology, but they are still expensive, while OLED displays have become significantly cheaper in recent years.

ASUS MicroLED displays do not use panels from Samsung, one of the leading producers of this technology. The article says that the 0.78 mm pixel pitch is smaller than what Samsung presented at the beginning of the year.

Asus first introduced the display in June at Computex 2023, but there was little information about the specifications at the time.

They feature the largest microLED display sizes currently available on the market, but multiple displays can also be modularly integrated to increase the display area.

Although the ProArt Cinema PQ07 offers tremendous benefits, it also has some limitations. Despite its $200,000 price, its color gamut is 95% of the DCI-P3 spectrum, which is low compared to what the best OLED displays achieve.

They can also be limited to 60Hz, while many professional monitors can have frequencies up to 240Hz.

It's worth noting that this isn't the largest screen available, but there are screens like Samsung's The Wall that work a little differently and are better suited for use in digital signage.

LG is now also designing LED displays for home theater installation ranging in size from 81 inches to 325 inches. However, like the Samsung display, it's not aimed at professionals like the Asus display.
