Adobe launches Photoshop for the web with AI tools

After nearly two years of testing, Adobe has officially released Photoshop for the web to all paying customers.

Generative AI tools powered by Adobe Firefly, such as Geneativefill and Generative Extension, are now available in the web version.

Adobe explains that the tools in the web toolbar represent workflow-based groups, such as copying an image or selecting an object.

Photoshop Web also displays the full name of the tool for beginners instead of showing a description in the tooltip. The company has renamed tools shared in similar workflows and combined them with toolbars to make it easier to navigate the software, such as object selection and image editing tools.

The company notes that users can easily collaborate on files by sharing links with others, even if they don't have a subscription.

In May, the company announced generative AI capabilities based on Adobe Firefly, such as: B. Generative expansion, which allows you to zoom in on images and fill content based on text prompts in more than 100 languages, as well as create a generative fill that can add or fill images. Delete the object while preserving the context. The image is intact and matches the lighting conditions and angles of the original image.

These features were available in beta versions of Photoshop at the time, though they are now also available through the web version, which can be a platform for Adobe to release quick updates or test features.

Adobe says the web version includes most of the desktop tools, including a context-sensitive taskbar, which suggests next steps and tools based on your workflow.

However, it still lacks the patch tool, pen tool, smart object support, and polygon. The company says it's working on integrating these tools into Photoshop for the web.

The web version of Photoshop offers a simplified user experience with a redesigned layout. You can sign up for a 7-day free trial. This new version replaces the limited free web version that the company began testing in select markets in June 2022.

Adobe currently has no plans to offer a free version of Photoshop for the web. Photoshop for the web works in any browser, so you can create, edit, and open any Photoshop file in your browser.
