Samsung is working on a cheaper foldable phone

According to a recent report by tech site Android Central, Samsung is working on a cheaper version of its foldable smartphone.

Citing a leaker, the site says that Samsung is testing a foldable version called the "Galaxy Z FE," which is a modified and more affordable version of the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phones.

The cheapest version of the Samsung foldable phone is scheduled to be launched next year, possibly after the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 phones.

According to one of the sources, Samsung plans to launch a cheaper FE version of its flagship phone every year, starting with the Galaxy S23 FE, which is expected to be launched later this year.

Drew Blackard, Samsung's vice president of mobile marketing, said earlier that the company could launch a cheaper version of the foldable phone at some point in the future, but did not specify a date.

Blackard added that the price of foldable smartphones will eventually come down.

The price of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at $ 1,800, and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at $ 1,000, and they are the two latest versions from Samsung.

Technology site Toms Guide predicts that the cheapest version of Samsung's foldable phone will start at $800.

The South Korean company has the world's largest market share in the foldable smartphone market.
