SGIN 15.6 Inch Laptop 4GB DDR4 128GB SSD Intel Celeron Quad Core Windows 11 Laptop with IPS FHD 2.4/5.0GB Screen WiFi Bluetooth 4.2 USB 3.0*2, Type C, 512GB Expandable Memory
I'm retired and looking for a laptop that won't break my budget. I will travel with her to research the stories I write about the scary things that happen in Indiana. Let's continue with my review.
It was well packed and undamaged. The user manual that came with it doesn't have a lot of information, but I'm pretty familiar with Windows and computer settings. It works well and walks you through a few steps to set up WiFi. I ran a quick scan and then started updating Windows 11 to the latest patches. No problem after several reboots. After Windows Updates, the update will start from the Microsoft Store and the download and installation from the Store will be completed.
I use a Google account so all my purchases are in one place.
I used multiple apps to check for driver updates and found nine other drivers updated without any issues. Now that the laptop was ready, I started loading my writing and research applications without any problems. I bought the X15 model with 12GB of RAM. All applications work and load normally.
The next step is to check all the ports on the edge of the laptop and make sure there are no issues with: USB ports when connecting the Galaxy S10+ and Nikon cameras. The latest update is to install a 512GB SanDisk Extreme Micro SD card to use for storage (a way to access my files in case of a catastrophic failure). I copied the photos from my phone to my laptop's internal drive to the SD card and was happy with the speed of the transfer.
The screen size is perfect for my big eyes (I'll be 70 in November) and it's nice to have a full-sized keyboard. I've turned it on and off several times with no problems.
Minor problem (so far): I ran Piriform's Speccy app to provide hardware details and noticed that the CPU was only running at 2GHz, not the 2.9GHz mentioned in the specs. The graphics are managed by the integrated Intel UHD chip and it's not a good gaming machine. I ran graphics tests and performance was minimal.
As another reviewer mentioned, I put the device to sleep when I close the lid and it doesn't disconnect when I open the lid. I don't have a problem with hibernation.
The smaller earbuds are fine, but I plugged in the Galaxy Buds2 Pro earbuds to get a better audio experience when listening to FLAC music.
Verdict: Based on my experience so far, the SGIN X15 15.6 will meet my needs for researching, taking notes, and writing my next big novel. These graphics are perfect for watching YouTube videos and movies. I hope it works without any hardware issues for about three years.
