Acer Aspire 3 Spin 14 Convertible Laptop | 14-inch IPS touch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 | Intel Core i3-N305 | Intel Ultra HD Graphics | 8GB LPDDR5 | 128GB SSD | Wi-Fi 6 | Windows 11 Home in S mode | A3SP14-31PT-37NV
The laptop comes in a series of stacked boxes and the laptop itself comes in a recyclable canvas bag. All packaging is recyclable. Avoid plastic and foam commonly found in shipping containers. The package contains the device itself, a charger, a dark gray carrying case and some leaflets with warranty information and quick setup.
The setup process is very quick and easy. Once connected, the device booted up quickly and configuration began in Windows S mode. Office 365 and/or OneDrive.
port:
The left side of the device contains the power cord jack, as well as USB-C, HDMI, and USB-A ports. On the right side there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-A port, and a Kensington lock slot.
Measure:
The device itself weighs 3.3 pounds. With the carrying case and power brick, total weight is 4.7 lbs. The power cord is approximately 8 feet long, 3 feet 3 inches from wall to brick, and 5 feet 5 inches from brick to instrument. When closed, the laptop measures 12 5/8" x 9 1/4" x 3/4". The visible portion of the screen measures exactly 14 inches diagonally.
the performance:
The system uses Intel's slowest processor, a 1.80GHz octa-core Core i3-N305 with integrated graphics, along with 8GB of RAM and a 118GB SSD. This gives a Geekbench 6 single-core score of 779, a multi-core score of 4032, and an OpenCL score of 6189. So you're not going to do anything serious with this, but that's not the target audience.
Possibility:
This is a light, quiet, and comfortable laptop. The build quality is good. And the screen hinge completely converts it into a tablet. In tablet mode, the keyboard and trackpad are disabled. The display is a touchscreen and a software keyboard is available in tablet mode. It would be a great laptop for working on documents or presentations at a coffee shop, or watching videos on the go. It's fast enough for these purposes and meets all of my expectations for a business laptop. Screen quality is good (1920 x 1200), very bright and the keyboard is backlit.
shortening:
The screen hinge is solid and when I bent the screen I felt like I was putting more force into the movement than I wanted to. The large trackpad is also a bit unresponsive, and when I typed a few times, my palm rubbed against the trackpad, resulting in unnecessary clicks. Although this is configurable, it can still be annoying. The SSD has a capacity of 128GB, but the space available for user files is only 77GB. Although it's as light as a 14-inch laptop, it's quite heavy for a tablet!
One potential downside is Windows 11's S Mode. For my personal use, this wouldn't be an immediate issue: I spend almost all of my time in Office and browser-based apps. However, this is a limitation, and switching from S Mode to standard Windows 11 isn't as easy as Microsoft claims. But it is a matter of the future.
appreciation:
Overall, it's a good laptop and will be my regular mode of transportation from now on. I don't often use it in tablet mode (it's quite heavy), but the 2-in-1 functionality allows me to use it upside down in "tent" mode for media consumption.
