The easy ways to customize Gmail

Gmail, one of the most popular email platforms used by millions of people since its launch in 2004, offers many features to help you easily organize your emails and find ways to suit your personal preferences.

Here are some easy ways to customize Gmail:

1- Change the color and background:

You can start customizing the general appearance of Gmail by changing the colors and background to your liking, Gmail includes a panel (theme) where you can choose an image to use to customize the general appearance: Steps:

  1. Click the gear icon to open the quick settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the "Theme" option and select one of the eight options available.
  3. You can see more options by clicking View All, then select More Pictures and choose the one you want.
  4. Click the "Save" button.

2- Sort incoming mail messages:

Gmail emails are automatically displayed into three categories: Primary, Promotional, and Social emails, organized by the date they were received. However, you can add new categories or remove default categories by following the steps below:

  1. Click the gear icon to open the quick settings menu.
  2. In the (Incoming Mail Type) section, select Custom.
  3. A popup will appear with all the categories and you can select the ones you want to add and remove the ones you don't need.
  4. Click Save when done.

3- Change the number of posts per page:

You can reduce the number of emails on a page to make it easier to view, or increase the number if you want to view more messages at once.

Gmail is set to 50 messages per page by default. However, you can choose to display 100, 25, 20, 15, or 10. The specific operation method is as follows:

  1. Click the gear icon to open the Settings menu, then select View all settings.
  2. On the General tab, go to the Maximum page size section.
  3. Click on the drop down menu and you will see that the number 50 is selected by default.
  4. Change the number depending on how many posts you want to show per page.
  5. Scroll down and click Save Changes.

4- Update your profile picture:

If you haven't added a personal photo to your Google account, a default photo will appear with your initials. However, you can easily change it to customize it further by following these steps:

  1. Go to the About Me page of your Google Account.
  2. In the Basic info section, click on your account picture and select Add profile picture.
  3. By default, a window with images to choose from will appear. However, near the top of the window, you'll find the Google Photos and From Computer tabs.
  4. On the From Computer tab, after selecting Take a picture, you can take a picture with your webcam or select Upload from Computer to add a previous picture to your computer.

5- Customize the shape, size and color of the text:

You can change the text style, size, and color of the emails you send by following these steps:

  1. Click the gear icon to open the Settings menu, then select View all settings.
  2. Make sure you are on the General tab, then locate the Default text styles section.
  3. First, change the font shape, size, and color to your liking. A preview will then appear showing the shape, color, and size you've chosen.
  4. When done, scroll down and click Save Changes.
