Review LG 49GR85DC-B.AUS Curved Ultragear™ DQHD 240Hz Monitor

LG 49GR85DC-B.AUS Ultragear™ DQHD 1ms 240Hz Curved Monitor with VESA DisplayHDR™ 1000, Black

I have a Dell UltraSharp 34" widescreen monitor and have owned it for over 5 years. I need a second widescreen. I chose this screen because of the good price at the time of purchase and the reviews from friends who use the same brand.

Pros: Image quality is at least as good, if not better, than the Dell I own. Very happy with the picture quality. Screen performance is excellent. I don't use demanding gaming applications that require overclocking to 160Hz. 144 Hz is good enough for me. I haven't tried the split screen option because my pre-existing app already does it for me. I will follow this post and update it when I use LG's split screen option.

Pros and cons... The pros are that it has cable management capability. If you want to use it, you can find it on the back of the monitor stand. The downside is that they are too small and fragile to fit all the cables. I haven't used it in my setup.

Setting: I used to use this as a trick, but I changed it because the main problem was not a malfunctioning LG screen. The biggest problem is the configuration. I have two monitors connected to this computer. 27-inch BenQ screen, and this screen is (LG). When I first plug it in, the two screens appear as separate screens. Resolution on LG is set to 1920 x 1080 by default. The PCI driver seems to fix the problem. However, LG needs to fix its driver or provide another driver.

Another small problem for me was the screen support. The feet of the base are slightly thinner and extend towards the front of the screen in a "V" shape. It takes up a lot of space on your desk. I could get around this, but I encourage others to consider this when planning their office layout.

Re: "LG 34" UltraGear Curved WQHD Nano IPS 1ms 144Hz HDR 400 Monitor with G-SYNC, Model 34GP83A-B is a plug-and-play monitor. Plug and Play is a feature that allows you to add a device to your computer without having to reconfigure anything or manually install drivers... ^ Ivan" - comment is correct. If the PCI-to-PCI adapter is already up to date, it will plug and play. This monitor.

Input selection: I've seen some complaints about a push-button controller that lets you change screen settings, including input sources. It took me a minute to get used to it, but it worked fine and I had no problems.

Work laptop: My computer uses a DP cable and my work laptop uses HDMI. My business laptop (HP ZBook) has a port duplicator that only uses DP connections. I'm using an HDMI splitter to route all the HDMI connections from the display over the DP connection to the port repeater. Does not work with LG monitors. I get the same weird error message as above on my computer and when I restart any of the monitors (including my laptop). I bought a DP to HDMI adapter, bypassed the HDMI hub and used a DP to HDMI adapter to connect my LG monitor's HDMI port directly to the port repeater. Now everything works fine. The only minor problem is that when the laptop sleeps and wakes up there is a 50/50 chance that the LG screen won't come on. I unplugged the port repeater from my laptop and plugged it back in. LG screen wakes up. This is a simple solution. Seems consistent with other comments about screen saver issues. Hope this helps others trying to get this to work.
