Review Lenovo Yoga 7i 2023 Touchscreen 2.5K 2-in-1 Laptop

Lenovo 2023 Yoga 7i 16" Touchscreen 2.5K 2560x1600 400nits 2-in-1 Laptop Computer, 12th Evo Intel 12-Core i5-1240P up to 4.4GHz, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, WiFi 6, KB Backlight, with Pen, Win11 Home

Since I decided to go to college, I looked at the Microsoft Surface PC because I wanted a device that could be used for both teaching and digital art. However, the machine comes with a hefty price tag (and the inability to power the internal components alone isn't worth it in the long run). After some searching I found this laptop! I've been there for almost 3 months and just finished my first semester of university and it's going really well!

Input: Beautiful keyboard! Prior to this, I was already typing on our old desk, so I seem to have gotten used to the feel and feedback of the keyboard, but it was nice getting used to it! In addition, you can easily adjust the brightness of the backlight (two modes), which is also useful!

Screen: I can't say anything about the specifics of the HD tech, but the colors look good! For artistic purposes, I use a Wacom stylus to draw directly on the screen and I'm not going to lie, it definitely took some trial and error. First, it finds the right software (Krita doesn't work well for me, I'm currently using FireAlpaca), then it fixes the connection problem between the pen and the screen. It is a very good experience when there are no problems. Line jitter when you want to draw lines very slowly, but you want smooth lines when drawing fast. It's great for drawing, and I know I do 90% of the time. I ran into a problem when something went wrong with the pen: the pointer pulsed and generated a random line on the page. Not sure if it's a laptop or software problem? This happens maybe 0.5/10 times when I move the pen across the screen, so I'm over it. The palm funnel is also fine, only sometimes there is a random spot where my palm is, but I still have to experiment with the painting gloves, so maybe that's enough! Again, this only happens 0.5 times out of 10, so it's not a big deal for me personally, but I understand why it might be the case for some people.

Other: The device itself works fine! The only problem is that my wifi cuts out from time to time which is just a minor inconvenience but my only concern is that it will quit when I set tasks so I always check that first! But this is the main problem that I am facing while using this device. The speakers are also good, but I mostly use headphones. I've seen previous models have internal bumps to prevent the keyboard from depressing when putting the laptop into tablet mode, but this model doesn't, which is a bit disappointing, but handy half-folded. Folds like a tent and stays in place! I'm planning to sew a thin pad to use in desktop mode without button presses, but that's just my idea.

Overall, I think this is a good choice if you're interested in Microsoft Surface products but afraid of the high price! From an academic point of view, it is perfect for writing and the size is perfect to carry in a backpack. It has a USB port, two USB-C ports (one for charging), and a headphone jack! Technically, once you find the software, it's great for drawing and once you start using it, you only run into a couple of problems, but they're not major ones.

EDIT: Having recently replaced my router, I didn't even notice that the wifi randomly stopped working. My service is a little lackluster at times, but I guess that's where I live. I know some people have reported wifi issues. The device itself may work fine, but sometimes it may simply be your service provider's problem!
