ASUS ZenScreen 24" 1080P Portable USB Monitor (MB249C) - Full HD, IPS, Type C, Speakers, Multi-Arc Design, Stand, C-Clamp Arm, Slotted Hook, Carrying Handle, Home Business Monitor, 3 Year Warranty

I first read all the comments and questions I could find about the softness and that's right. However, I never noticed the other dimensions. At 15 inches, none of my three laptop bags fit, and one of them is way too wide. So I have to carry it separately. I wish they had at least a little finger grip on it because this is probably too roomy for most laptop bags. No stars for it because it's my fault. This info is mine, but I'm limited by the thickness of the laser and I think it's usually "laptop size". If you have a bulky laptop, maybe it will turn into a side table if you put a leg in the corner.

However, this is a more serious problem. It should withstand small bumps and maybe even shortcomings pretty well. But Asus told us it could be used as a stand, which, for me, meant it should. I think it technically is, but setup is very difficult and jerky, especially in the vertical position. I've turned it into portrait mode now, but...don't breathe as you read this or it might tip over. Also, because the easel uses a flat object, it has a large footprint on the table. I prefer the AOC (AOS?) design where the stand folds behind the screen like a picture frame. Now I will think about what rest to give up. Do I want a free standing stand that is stable and doesn't take up much space on my desk but is portable? Or do I feel bad because it's shaky and bulky but I can go to the screen without any extras? Time will prove everything.

In addition, the setup is annoying. big. Back ache. My laptop doesn't have a cd drive (made after 2008, go by ASUS!) but as soon as I plug it in - Windows 7 btw - the drivers load. Thank God! Until I got a little popup saying the driver was incompatible blah blah and directing me to the demo link page for more drivers. It took more than an hour. Between downloading and installing, I had to kill the task manager and restart it. It finished, stopped, mysteriously did nothing, then moved around a bit, but for the most part the little processing loop continues uninterrupted. This caused my computer to crash and eventually the entire system froze. I had to turn it off with the power button and restart in safe mode. On startup, I get messages about Display Link driver plug-in incompatibilities. What should I do? The screen suddenly turned on and now it is working. I don't know exactly what happened, but we are getting started.

It's not easy to set up either - I'm average and not very good at the things that were going on in life. Just like the settings screen. Is this just about auto-recognizing landscape/portrait mode? Where does the screen rotate elegantly with the device? Not real. I had to go into Windows display settings and set it up as a second extended monitor in portrait mode. Not a big deal, but enough to give me an extra 25 minutes a day and give me slight heartburn from having to think.

So I give 1 star for the combination of view and housing. I'd really rather give 3.5 stars because four seems like a lot. But I don't give 3 stars because the screen is very good. These are just small things and not very important.

But the screen is certainly sharp—better than the laptop's original screen and large enough to make a noticeable difference as a secondary screen in portrait mode. I've seen people use second iPad-sized screens (as far as I know they're supposed to be real iPads), and while they look comfortable, I'm not sure I could easily and comfortably use the small screen for hours at a time. This will be easy for me once I get used to having it right in front of me, but then I put my laptop keyboard aside. Still, it's probably the best display (resolution) I've ever owned, and it might just be good enough for me to work around the technical hurdle and use it as a video monitor (ie never say, but it might be fine). be to try it). . It feels very solid and looks great.

Overall, the screen itself should have five stars, but the lengthy connection/installation/configuration process combined with very poor "support" is enough to strip it and deduct a star. Measure your laptop bag before buying!
