If you've ever taken photos on the Instagram app, especially Instagram Stories, you'll find that photos never look the same when using the iPhone's built-in camera app, but most of the time, you'll find that it just keeps getting better and better.
This is due to the filters built into Instagram, as well as slightly different camera settings. If you generally prefer the way your photos appear on the Instagram app, you can use some of the steps below to change your iPhone's camera app settings to look like the device. Instagram photo:
1- Set the camera aspect ratio to (16:9):
The first change you can make to the Camera app that will have a huge impact on your photos and videos is to change the aspect ratio. This feature is especially useful when you want to get photos that match your Instagram Stories photos, as the Instagram camera uses the 16:9 aspect ratio while the iPhone camera app uses the 16:9 aspect ratio by default. 4:3.
This is why photos on Instagram Stories always look as if they were taken from a wider angle, rather than getting too close to your face when taking a selfie.
To change the aspect ratio, tap the arrow (^) icon at the top of the Camera app to access the main camera settings. The option appears 4:3 or 1:1. Tap on it and change the aspect ratio to 16:9. After that, the frame becomes taller and you can take better selfies and wider horizontal shots.
2- Change the iPhone's built-in recording mode:
You can experiment with the different shooting modes included in the iPhone camera app to get more accurate colors in your photos. To try it out, do the following:
- Go to the Camera app and tap the arrow (^) icon to open the Camera settings menu.
- Click the Photography style icon, which looks like three diagonally arranged squares.
- You can switch between the standard settings and four other settings: Rich, Vivid, Warm, and Cool contrast.
Each adjusts the color sharpness of your image differently to achieve unique results. For example: “Rich Contrast” brings out tones and brings out more colors, while “Cool Colors” reduces yellows, oranges and reds.
You can also adjust each effect using the tone and warmth meters until you find a tone you like. Also, once you set the capture pattern, the camera app will keep it until you change it back.
3- Take a wide angle selfie:
The front camera on iPhone 11 and later has arrows in the frame that allow you to widen the angle slightly and move out of the frame when taking selfies so your face isn't too close in the photo.
The button appears only when using the front camera. So, switch to the front camera in the Camera app and tap the arrow to zoom in.
4- Use the built-in filters in the camera app:
The iPhone camera app also has built-in filters that you can use to get Instagram-friendly photos and try them out by following these steps:
- Go to the Camera app and tap the arrow symbol (^) to open the settings menu.
- Swipe right to access the filter icon.
- Click on the filter icon that appears in the shape of a circle and you can browse through nine different filters and choose the one that you like best.
These filters differ from Instagram's camera filters in that you can apply them before taking a photo. This allows you to see what the image will look like when the filter is applied. After you take a photo, you can edit the filter or remove it entirely by clicking the Edit button in the Photos app.
