Security should be a top priority in anything related to the Internet. Now that we use Google accounts to access everything online, you can access all Google services and products on your phone or computer, including your bank details. And your purchase invoices and trade secrets, not to mention they are used to register on many third-party websites and services. So make sure it's not a luxury, it's a necessity.
Signing in to different websites and apps with a Google account is convenient because you don't need to create a new Google user account for that particular site or app; You are putting your account and data at risk.
Google generally states that an important security measure is to reduce the number of apps that have access to your Google Account - only those that you fully trust and use regularly - third-party apps that connect to your account and the fewer services, the more secure your data.
To learn about third-party apps and services associated with your Google Account and how to remove them:
- Go to your Google account page.
- In the menu on the left side of the screen, click on the Security tab.
- Scroll down to the Third-Party Apps and Services Connections section.
- Click Options (Show All Connections) to display all connections.
- You'll see a list of everything related to your account, including some apps you may have forgotten.
- Click on the application that you want to revoke access to your Google account, then click on the option (Delete all WhatsApp contacts) that appears at the bottom of the page.
- Click on the confirmation option.
Note: This step will not prevent you from using the app or service again in the future. However, if you want to use them, you must sign in with your Google account.
google drive:
There is a completely separate list of apps and services associated with the Google Account you use in Google Drive. These are usually add-ons that you use in Drive or that take up storage in games and cloud apps.
To access and remove these apps and services from Google Drive, you can follow the steps below:
- Go to Google Drive.
- Click on the Settings menu icon (gear wheel) in the upper right corner and then click on the Settings option from the drop-down menu.
- From the menu on the left side of the screen, tap Manage Applications.
- You'll see a list of apps and extensions that you've given access to Google Drive. Check them and remove old apps and extensions that you no longer use.
- Click the dropdown icon next to the app you want to remove and select (Unmount from drive).
