Google Photos is a comprehensive service for storing media files, easily editing and sharing photos and videos with others. However, most of the Google Photos editing features are limited to Google Photos. Google Photos app is available for Android and iPhone users. And you won't be there. The same functionality can be found in the web version.
On the other hand, not all Google Photos editing features are available for free accounts. Exclusive features available to Google One subscribers. However, there are many free features that anyone can use and we will mention them below as simple photo editing tips:
1- Use the image optimization options:
If you are using a phone that does not have professional photo capabilities to take great photos, you can use the Google Photos app to improve the quality of your photos.
Google Photos includes a Suggestions tab that suggests various edits based on your photos. Try suggestions like Bright, Radiant, Stormy, B&W Portrait, and Color Pop to edit your photo in one click.
To access these suggestions, you can follow the steps below:
- Go to the Google Photos app and select the photo you want to edit.
- Click on the edit option shown below.
- Try the suggestions to improve your image. If you are not sure which option to use, click the Enhance button and let Google Photos make the appropriate adjustments to improve your image.
2- Try the filters in Google Photos:
Filters are now an integral part of photo apps and are also available in the Google Photos app. To use it, follow these steps:
- Go to the Google Photos app and select the photo you want to edit.
- Click on the edit option shown below.
- Scroll to the left to find the Filter option and click on it.
- Try out the available filters by clicking on a specific filter and previewing it live.
3- Use the crop or rotate tool:
You can easily crop any photo to remove unwanted parts or rotate it to change its orientation directly in the Google Photos app, but you can't resize it.
Try cropping or rotating the image. Do the following:
- Go to the Google Photos app and select the photo you want to edit.
- Click on the edit option shown below.
- Select "crop" and click the rectangle icon to check the available aspect ratio.
- Click the rotate icon next to the rectangle icon to rotate the image.
- Click the icon next to the rotate icon to crop the image manually.
4- Adjust image color and contrast:
With the Google Photos app, you can easily adjust saturation, shadows, skin tone, HDR, and contrast. To try these options, please follow these steps:
- Select a photo to edit in the Google Photos app.
- Click on the edit option shown below.
- Scroll left among the personalization options and select Personalize.
- Select the one you want to adjust, for example: (saturation), contrast, etc. and use the sliders to adjust the intensity.
5- Add text to the image:
Google Photos app includes a markup tool that you can use to add text to an image if you want to make something clear, and you can use the highlighter to highlight important details in an image. To use these tools, follow these steps:
- Select a photo to edit in the Google Photos app.
- Click on the edit option shown below.
- Choose Annotation, then choose Pen, Highlighter, or Text.
- You have seven color options to choose from, but you can't adjust the thickness when you select the Pen or Highlighter tool.
- When you're done adding the text, click the Save a Copy button.
