Devices running Android 10 or later have built-in tools to quickly and securely share Wi-Fi information with other devices. In iOS 16 and later, Apple is also making it easier to share Wi-Fi passwords with others.
You can easily share your phone's WiFi password with others in several ways:
Firstly ; On an Android phone:
1- Share wifi password via QR Code:
Devices running Android 10 or later support quick sharing of Wi-Fi passwords via QR codes (Quick Response Codes).
With this method, you can easily share your home network credentials with others. All you have to do is generate a QR code using your WiFi credentials and the other person will open the camera app on their iPhone or Android phone software to scan the code, which will allow them to quickly connect to your WiFi without having to enter a password.
To share WiFi password via QR code on your phone, you can follow the steps below:
- Go to your Android phone settings.
- Click on Network and Internet options.
- Click on the WiFi option.
- Make sure you're connected to the network whose data you want to share, then tap the Settings icon next to the network name.
- A list of home network details is displayed. Click on the share option.
- You will be asked to verify your identity using a PIN or fingerprint; Generate a QR code with your WiFi name and password.
- After authentication, a QR code will appear on the phone screen, which anyone can scan with their phone's camera to automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network without having to enter the network name or password.
2- Share WiFi passwords with nearby Share:
If you don't want to scan QR codes, you can use the nearby sharing feature to share WiFi passwords. However, this feature only works on phones with Android 12 or later.
Nearby Sharing allows you to wirelessly share files and apps with nearby devices, and share web data with other nearby Android devices without scanning QR codes.
How to use this function:
If you haven't used the (Nearby Sharing) feature on your phone before, you need to set it up first. to do this. Follow next steps:
- Go to your Android phone settings.
- Scroll down to the Google option and tap on it.
- Click on the (Devices and Sharing) option.
- Click on Share near option.
- Click the switch next to to turn on Use Nearby Sharing.
- Turn on the Bluetooth and location options on your phone to allow your phone to find nearby devices.
- When done, follow the steps in Method 1 to generate a QR code for network data sharing.
- Under the QR code there is an option (Nearby). Click on it and the phone will start searching for nearby devices that you want to share.
- Click on the name of the phone you want to share data with. Once the other phone accepts sharing, it will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.
second; On iPhone:
In iOS 16, Apple introduces a very easy way to share WiFi passwords on iPhones. To use it, you can follow the steps below:
- Unlock your iPhone and make sure it's connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to share.
- Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your cell phone and the other party's cell phone, and make sure both phones are close together and within range of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
- Have your friend go to their device's (WLAN) settings and provide the name of your Wi-Fi network.
- A notification will appear on your device asking "Do you want to share your WiFi password?" Click on the Share Password option.
- Click Finish.
