Google Maps is packed with features to help users easily navigate, plan trips, find new places around the world, and more. As summer approaches, Google Maps is adding three new features announced last week designed to help users plan their trips and get the most out of their summer vacation. Below we will mention these features:
1- An overview of the characteristics of guidance:
With a quick glance at directions, users can easily track their trip progress from the lock screen or route preview without having to click the Start button to see real-time updates like the ETA and next turn.
With this feature, users will see an updated ETA and location of the next turn, previously only available in the global navigation mode. If the user decides to take a different route, the map will update the information automatically.
All Android and iPhone users can enjoy the new Walk, Bike and Ride mode feature, which is rolling out globally this month.
2- The global view feature is available in more cities and landmarks:
The Around View feature, which was added to Google Maps earlier this year to improve the way users can explore the places around them and learn about cities before they visit them, is now available in four new cities: the Dutch capital Amsterdam and Dublin. in Ireland, Florence and Venice in Italy as well as more than 500 famous landmarks around the world such as Prague Castle and the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
This feature uses artificial intelligence to blend multiple images to create realistic, detailed 3D renderings of cities and landmarks that you can move. This feature also allows you to see the neighborhood or attraction you want to visit in all weather and light conditions.
3- Improve the latest features of the web version:
The "Recent" function is available in the web version of Google Maps. When the user opens the map, the searched places are automatically organized in the sidebar. Multiple locations can be selected in the Recent tab and saved to the list with a single center click.
Google has improved the functionality to save places in the recent tab even after you close the Google Maps window, making it easier to return to the map and complete your search. This allows the user to take a break from planning the trip and come back later without losing progress.
To make it easier to organize your saved places, there is also an option to remove items from the Recent tab. You can also start planning multiple trips at once from the same tab. Once you know the places you want to visit, you can select three or more destinations and Maps will create a custom route for stops and save it under Recent for later access.
In addition, you can create lists by selecting locations directly from the Recent tab and share them with fellow travelers to get their opinions.
Next month, Google will begin rolling out these new features globally in the web version of Recents. So you have to wait a bit for it to become available.
