Main features of the Photos app in iOS 17

Taking pictures has become a major use of the modern iPhone as many people who use iPhone spend most of their time there. So Apple is constantly improving the camera systems of these devices, as well as improving the Photos app by integrating new functionality. Easy photo editing in the app itself, no third party apps required.

In iOS 17, which will be released this fall, Apple has added a number of useful new features to the Photos app. We mention the following:

1. Get to know the pets:

In iOS 17, Apple has improved the image recognition feature in the Photos app, which can recognize pets in photos and identify which pets are important to you by looking at the number of photos of a particular pet. That's why the People album is now called People & Pets, where you can add your pet's name and easily access all their pet photos.

2- Crop any part of the image with one click:

To crop a photo in the iOS 16 Photos app, you need to tap the Edit button, select the crop tool and use the pinch gesture or drag the corners of the crop tool to adjust the amount of crop.

But in iOS 17, Apple has greatly simplified the process with a new button (Crop) that appears in the upper-right corner when you start zooming in on a photo. When you click on it, the crop interface will appear and display the zoom level you selected, allowing you to crop the part of the image you want with just a few clicks.

3- Converting images into animated stickers:

In iOS 16, Apple added a feature to isolate the subject of a photo from its background, which can be used by long-pressing the subject. A popup will then appear with options to copy or share the design. And in iOS 17, Apple expanded this feature with a new button that allows you to use a theme isolated from the background to create animated stickers that can be used in the Messages app.

If you long press on the image theme, a new option will appear in the context menu which is (Add Sticker). After clicking, the selected theme will be added to the list of stickers you want to add. Can be used in messaging app.

And you can add effects to the stickers, such as (wool) effect, (lightning) effect, etc. You will also find that the subject you select in the photo taken in live mode can be turned into a cartoon.

4- Search for cooking recipes directly in the photo application:

You can use the Visual Look Up feature to discover famous landmarks, plants, pets, and other things that appear in photos in the Photos app. To access this information, swipe down from the bottom of the image and see it all. You will see information about the main elements of the image.

Apple improved this feature in iOS 17, allowing you to find recipes for similar dishes when you recognize a meal in a photo. When the Photos app detects that a particular photo contains a meal, a knife and fork icon will appear at the bottom of the screen. Clicking Find Food will give you direct links to websites that have recipes similar to the ones shown in the image, so you can see what you can do without having to search the web in Safari.

5- Find the subject of the photo:

In (iOS 17), when using background tools, you can use a new option that appears in the context menu to find information about a topic, which is (Search). Additionally, with the Photos app on the iPhone, you can pause the video at any time and search online for information on the topics covered in the video.
