You can adjust your Pixel phone's settings to improve your experience

If you bought a Google Pixel phone recently or plan to buy one in the near future, there are some parameters you need to know before using it. Some of these settings come down to personal preference, but all of them will generally improve your Pixel phone's performance.

Here are 5 settings you can adjust on your Pixel phone to improve your experience:

1- Turn on Smooth Display:

Recent Pixel phone models, including the Pixel 7a, have high refresh rate displays, but variable refresh rates aren't enabled by default. To activate it, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Settings app and tap on the Display option.
  2. Activate the (flat screen) option.

With the Smooth Display setting enabled, your phone's screen will default to the 60Hz, 90Hz, or — if you're using a Pixel 7 Pro — default frequency, depending on your activity or the phone's remaining charge.

2- Change the action of the power button:

A long press of the power button on the right side of the phone will launch Google Assistant instead of turning off the phone. However, you can change the settings of this button to turn off the phone by following these steps:

  • Go to Settings and click on the System tab.
  • Select Gestures, then press and hold the Power button.
  • Switch the action of this gesture from the digital assistant to the power menu.

3- Change the quick settings menu:

If this is your first time using a Pixel phone, or any other Android phone in general, then you must be familiar with what is known as the quick settings menu. The quick settings menu contains a number of shortcuts that allow you to access in one click various applications and settings on your phone, such as: b. Access to WiFi, Bluetooth, location services, etc.

You can access the quick settings menu by swiping down from the top of the screen, editing the list, clicking the pencil icon, removing shortcuts you don't need, and adding shortcuts you don't.

4- Disable annoying gestures:

Not all standard gestures are annoying, but they can be useless. To access default gestures, go to Settings, then System, then Gestures. The following gestures are active there:

  • Quickly open camera
  • Flip camera for selfie
  • Tap to check phone
  • Lift to check phone

Review the default gestures and disable any that may be distracting or unnecessary.
