Google Scholar is Google's scientific literature search engine, enabling users to search for scholarly papers, monographs, books, journal articles, and a variety of other scholarly resources.
If you have a research project and are looking for ways to improve your search results with Google Scholar, the following tips can help you get the best results:
1- Use the allotted time function:
With the default settings of Google Scholar, search results are displayed based on random intervals. However, sometimes you may just need access to recent research or research from a specific time period.
To find the latest articles, simply enter the search title and click on one of the most recent articles displayed on the left side of the page.
However, if you want to search for scholarly articles written in a specific time period, you can use the custom range feature that appears in the options on the left side of the page, where you can enter your desired time period.
2- Use quotes:
When searching, including keywords in quotes can help you get more specific results and avoid unnecessary articles.
If you search without quotes, Google Scholar will return results based on all words listed in the search title. Instead of showing millions of articles in search results, you can use quotes to narrow down your search results.
3- Search for articles by author name:
If you use Google Scholar, you may find that some authors come up a lot when searching for certain topics. If you would like to view all articles by a specific author to read all articles, you can do so by clicking on the author name displayed below the article title on the Google Scholar page. This will take you to a page with all of the author's articles available in Google Scholar.
You can also search for articles by a specific author by clicking the menu button in the top left corner, then selecting "Advanced Search" and typing the author's name in the available section.
4- Narrow the search results in Google Scholar by location:
If your search is focused on a specific site, you can narrow your results by including that site in your search. You can do this easily by typing the site in the search title and adding quotes to ensure that the search results focus on that specific site. For example, if you want to focus your search on Brazil, just add the word "Brazil" at the end of the search title.
5- Save the article:
If your research topic requires you to research multiple articles, saving articles can help you better manage your research process. You can create a Google Scholar library to store articles for quick reference later. You can organize the items you've saved into different categories to keep them organized and easy to access.
