The most popular photo editing tool in the Google Photos app

Google Photos allows you to save and share photos and videos. It also provides additional features such as free photo editing tools. However, Google One subscribers get a number of additional editing tools.

Here are half of the most popular photo editing tools you get for free in the Google Photos app, plus editing tools exclusive to Google One subscribers and how to use them:

What is Google One?

Google One is a service that includes a combination of monthly and yearly subscriptions to provide additional cloud storage in Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. Plans start with 100GB of storage and go up to 30TB, each with unique features.

A Google One subscription comes with many benefits, including access to Google experts for help with Google products and services, a VPN service, and the ability to share an account with five other people. In addition to the excellent photo editing tools available on Google Photos.

Free editing tools in Google Photos:

Google Photos includes a number of free photo editing tools that you can use to improve image sharpness and brightness, and make some simple adjustments. You can also crop, rotate and resize images.

The Edits menu contains a number of free photo editing tools, including:

  • Brightness.
  • Contrast.
  • Saturation.
  • Tint.
  • Sharpen.
  • Denoise.
  • Vignette.

As with most photo editing apps, you'll find a wide variety of filters, as well as markup tools like pens and highlighters, and options for adding text.

Editing tools exclusive to Google One subscribers in Google Photos:

Google One subscribers get additional editing tools, but they're pretty special. It consists of seven tools divided into three different sections: (Suggestions), (Tools) and (Modifications). Here are half of these tools:

1- Suggestions Section:

In the Suggestions section, you will find three paid tools: Motion, Portrait, and Color Pop. These widgets will appear automatically based on the image you selected and will appear immediately after you click the edit icon.

When you select the dynamic tool, automatic adjustments are made to image brightness and color saturation to bring out details and create sharper, more beautiful images.

The Portrait tool applies the same effects as taking a photo in Portrait mode. So you can use it if you forgot to turn on portrait mode before taking the picture.

The Color Pop tool emphasizes certain colors and highlights objects or people in the center of the image. It will be applied automatically when selected without the need to manually make changes.

Depending on the image you're editing, you may also see some of the following suggestions, which are generally less effective:

  • Vivid
  • Luminous
  • Radiant
  • Ember
  • Airy
  • Afterglow
  • Stormy

2- Tools section:

In the Tools section, you'll find three photo editing tools exclusive to Google One subscribers: Blur, Magic Reasoner, and Color Focus.

The Blur tool adds a blur effect to an image. To use it, click on the word "Blur" and drag the slider to adjust the intensity of the blur.

Magic Eraser allows you to erase or blur unwanted items or people in your photo. To use Magic Eraser, click the Erase button and hover over any object you want to erase from the image.

The Color Focus tool is somewhat similar to the Color Pop tool, but instead of focusing on specific objects or people, it enhances the clarity of the overall image. In most cases, the background of the image is defocused and the foreground colors are enhanced.

3- Modifications Section:

The Adjustments section contains a tool exclusive to Google One subscribers that deals with adjusting the HDR of any image, adjusting the brightness and contrast to add depth to the image. To use this feature, just access the adjustment options, tap on HDR and move the slider to adjust the intensity of the effect and get the right tone.
