If you have been using your Android phone for a long time, sometimes you may experience slow performance and lag in some processes that spoil your experience. However, there are several simple things that you can try to improve your Android phone's performance. We mention some of them below:
1- Reboot your Android phone:
Restarting your Android phone can fix some minor issues and speed up some tasks. You can access the restart options by pressing and holding the power button until a menu appears with a number of options, then selecting (restart) restart from the list.
In most cases, restarting will help improve performance a bit, but it won't last long if there is a major issue slowing down your Android phone.
2- Clear cache for some apps:
You can clear the cache on your Android phone by going to (Settings), then (Applications), choosing the problematic app, then selecting (Storage and cache) and clicking on (Clear cache).
Deleting this temporary data can sometimes improve performance, but not for long as the data will be downloaded again when the app uses it.
3- Update the Android system:
The reason why your Android phone is slow may be that your phone is running an outdated operating system. So, follow these steps to check if the operating system has been updated to the latest version available:
- Go to Settings and select System.
- Click System update to check if an update is available for your phone.
4- Free up space on your Android phone:
Full storage space on your Android phone can slow down performance. However, there are many ways to free up disk space, including: empty download folder, empty recycle bin partition, transfer photos to cloud storage services, and so on.
5- Delete unused apps:
Unused apps take up storage space and can slow down your phone. However, you can easily uninstall any number of Android apps directly from the Google Play Store. Follow the following steps:
- Go to Google Play and click on your account picture in the upper right corner.
- Click on the Manage apps and devices option.
- Go to the Manage tab and select the app you want to uninstall.
- Tap the delete icon on the top right to delete the app.
6- Update the application:
Updating the app may fix some performance issues. To update the apps installed on your phone, follow these steps:
- Go to Google Play and click on your account picture in the upper right corner.
- Click on the Manage apps and devices option.
- You will see the options (Updates are available) or (All apps are up to date) which means there are no updates available.
7- Use a lite version of some applications:
Some applications take up a lot of disk space, but they may be important to you and cannot be uninstalled. In this case, you can install the built-in (light) versions that are available for some popular applications, for example for example:
- Facebook Messenger Lite
- Facebook Lite
- Google Go
- Google Maps Go
- Gmail Go
- Microsoft Outlook Lite
- YouTube Go
- Instagram Lite
