How do you use your Android phone as a computer speaker?

Most computers have built-in speakers and amplifiers. But sometimes your computer speakers may stop working and you may not have time to fix the problem. In this case, you can take your Android phone and use it as an external speaker for your computer.

Here we'll show you how to turn your Android phone into a speaker for your PC using a third-party app:

To use your Android phone as a wireless speaker for your PC:

Android phones or Windows, macOS, or Linux computers don't have a built-in app that lets you use your Android phone as a speaker. Therefore, a number of applications have been developed for this purpose, including one being AudioRelay, which is an audio streaming application, which is a wired or wireless speaker that allows you to turn your Android phone into a computer.

First you need to install the AudioRelay app on your Android phone and your Windows, macOS, or Linux computer. In-app subscriptions are free.

To start using the app, follow the steps below on your Windows PC:

  1. Make sure your Android phone and PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Download the AudioRelay app on your Windows PC.
  3. Make sure all options are selected in the (Select another task) section.
  4. Click Install to complete the application installation process and restart your computer.
  5. Once restarted, go to the AudioRelay app on your computer.
  6. Download the AudioReplay app on your Android phone, launch it and hit start.
  7. Click on the computer name displayed in the (server) section.
  8. Once connected to your computer, your phone will be listed in the connection section of the app on your computer.
  9. Play any audio on your computer to hear it through your phone's speakers. You can adjust the volume using the AudioRelay app on your computer. To stop the audio stream, tap the Stop button in the Phone app.

To use your Android phone as a wired speakerphone:

AudioRelay can be used in wired mode if you cannot connect to the same Wi-Fi network. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have AudioRelay installed on your phone and PC.
  2. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
  3. In the AudioRelay app on your phone, scroll down to the USB Tethering section.
  4. Tap Settings to access mobile hotspot and tethering settings.
  5. Activate the option (USB tethering).
  6. Go back to the AudioRelay app on your phone and tap on your computer's name in the Servers section.
  7. Enter the application on your computer and you will find the name of your phone in the "Contact" section.
  8. Play any audio clip on your computer with the audio playing through your phone's speakers.
