Hidden features of the Samsung keyboard and how to use it

The default Samsung keyboard on Samsung Galaxy phones has many useful features for typing and translating text, adding custom emoticons, etc., but many of these features are hidden and unknown to many Samsung Galaxy phone users. In this article we explain the most important parts of these functions and how to use them:

To access Samsung keyboard settings:

In order to use most of the features covered in this article, you need to know how to access Samsung keyboard settings. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon to open Settings.
  2. Go to General Administration.
  3. Select (Samsung keyboard settings) Samsung keyboard settings.

If any of the features mentioned below need to be enabled in Settings, you can follow the previous steps to access Samsung keyboard settings.

1- Change the size of the keyboard:

The default keyboard for Samsung Galaxy phones can be adjusted to fit the size of your hand. You can adjust the height, width, and position by going to Samsung keyboard settings, then selecting Size and Transparency, and then dragging the slider.

2- Undo and rewrite:

Everyone makes mistakes when typing on their phone, but Samsung Keyboard makes it easy to undo or retype sentences with gestures. You can slide two fingers from right to left to undo or from left to right to redo.

3- Install the numbers on the main keyboard:

Some people type a lot of numbers and they don't have number keys on the main keyboard. However, you can display a line with all the numbers on top of the keyboard. To do this, go to Keyboard Settings, then to Layouts and enable the Number Keys option.

4- Use the spacebar to control the cursor:

Moving the cursor can be tricky when trying to type between two lowercase letters, but the Samsung keyboard offers a useful feature that lets you move the cursor just by sliding your finger over the space bar. This feature can be enabled by going to the keyboard settings, then selecting the options (swipe, tap and return) and enable (tap and hold the spacebar).

5- Add a custom icon:

Long press the period (.) key on your keyboard to use common symbols such as %, $, #,! to display them. And the? , but you can customize the icons available in this menu to make it easier to access your most frequently used icon.

And to do so; Go to keyboard settings, select custom symbols, then select any symbol and replace it with your own.

6- Create shortcuts for common phrases:

There may be phrases that you type frequently, such as: email address, home address, name, and so on. To make it easier to type these phrases, you can create short text shortcuts on the keyboard, for example: you can (email) and your email address will automatically appear in the suggestions.

To create a shortcut, go to keyboard settings, then select (Text Shortcuts), then click on the plus sign (+) and add the shortcut you want.

7- Translate text using the keyboard:

Let's say you want to type a word in a language you don't know. Go to Google Translate, type the word, copy the translation, go back to the app and paste it. You can also use the translation feature available on Samsung keyboards, which can be accessed by clicking the three-dot menu icon and then selecting Translate.
