Before the explosion of generative AI, Google pioneered the development of advanced AI and machine learning models. But the company's efforts to build products based on generative AI pale in comparison to competitors like OpenAI and Microsoft, which currently dominates ChatGPT and Bing chat bots. To accelerate its growth and keep pace with the massive developments in artificial intelligence, Google is expected to announce new AI-powered features at the Google I/O 2023 developer conference.
Google's annual I/O developer conference brings together technology experts from around the world to learn about the company's latest hardware and software innovations. So Google will almost certainly reveal the latest developments in hardware and software. Artificial intelligence, and we mention the most important of them below:
1- The most intelligent robots:
Google usually obscures its AI models until they are completely ready to release them to the public. But the rapid growth of ChatGPT bots has prompted Google to take a different approach.
After the success of ChatGPT, the company rushed to launch its own chatbot, Google Bard, before it was ready to provide customers with any real value.
Bud stumbled early on when he gave the wrong answer in a video showing Alphabet at a private meeting he was hosting. Since its beta launch in March, Bard hasn't been able to impress users, and competitor ChatGPT is clearly ahead in terms of features.
But Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in an interview with The New York Times that Google will upgrade Bard to a better PaLM model that will improve responses, code and processing power.
As Google is trying hard to recover from the initial setback in launching a cool bot, the company is expected to announce upgrades and new features for the bot during Google I/O 2023.
2- A new search engine with artificial intelligence:
Google is rumored to be working on integrating AI features into its search engine, as is Microsoft, which has added a Bing chat bot to its Edge browser.
However, according to The New York Times, there are reports that Google is developing a new AI-based search engine called Magi, and more than 160 people are currently working full-time on the project. We expect to hear more from Magi at Google I/O next week.
3- Artificial intelligence features in the Google Workspace application:
In March, Google announced that it would provide generative AI capabilities to its Google Workspace app. This means that all widely used Google productivity tools such as Gmail, Google Docs, and Slides have AI capabilities to make users' tasks easier.
As announced, these features are not yet available to the public as they are in the beta testing phase. Google I/O provides the opportunity for Google to introduce an AI-enhanced version of its Google Workspace app.
4- Artificial intelligence of images:
The popularity of AI tools for generating images from text, such as DALL-E, has grown exponentially, prompting several competitors to develop competing tools.
Google has been developing an AI image creation tool called Imagen for a long time, but hasn't launched it yet. The best time for the official launch might be during Google I/O 2023.
