Review ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHDU Ultra HD 4K IPS Monitor

ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHDU 27" 4K IPS UHD Monitor, 65W USB-C, HDR10 Content Support, Narrow Bezel, HDMI, DisplayPort

Update: There's a lot to like about this screen, but it flashes after only a few days. See the attached video. It's best seen on the Windows login start screen. I don't know if it's broken or if it's just trying to adjust and get into a weird loop, but it just doesn't work somehow. It doesn't always look like this screen, but this one has a lot of black. I have a GeForece GTX 1060 6GB graphics card, not very high quality, but not boring either.

original comment:

It has 4 entrances which is great! I have three different computers connected to it so having at least 3 inputs is important. 4 is well above average on a screen. However, the interface for switching inputs is through a shoddy menu system rather than a single button like the others. It will drive you crazy so that if the entry no longer exists, it will automatically go to content with the entry. I can't find a workaround in the list. The information I was able to find prior to purchase "suggested" that it was a one button switch menu. So this part is annoying when switching between computers.

The screen is good. There is nothing wrong with that. I find red skin tones very saturated. I will not use it for photo/video editing. It's not that screen, don't even try it, you'll be disappointed.

On the other hand, for the price, it is perfect for web surfing and office work. This is quite an upgrade from my 2k (1920x1200) monitor, you'll love the true 4k resolution and all the space you have. I bought a 32" instead of the 27" and thought it was a good decision. Windows 10 lets you scale anything on your desktop so it doesn't get too small. I've found that 150% is my sweet spot. 32 inches gives you more room to measure than the desktop space you're using. On a 27-inch screen, you might need a 175% scaling to get things to look the way you want them to. The same size. Even if the number of pixels is the same, you have to consider the actual size of the icon, etc. 32" gives me a lot more space. Text from apps is crisp and clear with no pixels that I can easily see. Compared to my old 2k screen, it's great!

It is not an IPS panel, but its MVA technology. The screen is really big, which is nice, but the fact that it's so big makes viewing angles important. Due to the viewing angle, the left and right are no longer 100% perfect when sitting. Not particularly bad, maybe 10% worse right or left than you're dealing with. I suspect IPS is better but I haven't read it so I don't know.

Finally, it has VESA mounting holes (100mm x 100mm) so I can mount it on the monitor arm. I added the commas because they will hit the parentheses if used without them. There is no specification on the screw (it's better to name it or write it in the manual so you know the maximum screw length). I used M4x16 (x4 of those) (16mm long) and it seemed to work just fine. It goes through my VESA back plate and stands, and it doesn't seem to be touching anything inside. It would be really cool if there were 4 screws included.

Other than that, it's a decent price for a monitor from this brand, but there are many more monitors in its price range. I'm glad I got it but maybe I should go all out and buy the expensive screen. If you're using Office, you'll be more than happy with just adjusting the settings to your liking. What sets me back from other brands is the lack of dedicated input select buttons, which this one doesn't have.
