INNOCN 29" Ultra Wide Type-C 21:9 IPS WFHD 2560 x 1080P 350Nits 99% sRGB DP HDMI Computer Monitor, 75Hz, Split Screen, Height/Adjustable, Wall Mount - 29C1F-D
The build quality is really good. The stand is easy to install and the screen is a bit heavy for its size. I love that it's a very large 40-inch tablet. I don't like curved panels at all. So I was very happy to find a large flat plate.
This is called an IPS panel. This needs clarification. It is an IPS panel made by a company called BOE. They have made great strides in modifying IPS technology to enhance their capabilities. So it is an IPS-like panel. While it does a good job of reducing IPS glare, which is an absolute problem with all IPS panels, it falls short in other categories. These are good IPS panels. pixel response.
The pixel response leaves a lot to be desired, at least for IPS and IPS panels. I purchased this board to replace an Acer CG437K which is a VA board. IPS doesn't seem to be any sharper than a VA panel. The panel doesn't have a hint of black pixel transitions like all VA panels do. Pixels on this panel are a bit slower than expected. Especially since they use faster GtG scaling than BtW or generic color transitions. So the pixel transition time is actually slower than the LG IPS monitors I've been using since 2016. Don't get me wrong. For the most part, this is a very good board. Although pixel conversion is a bit slow, it's okay for non-sports players. Especially if you usually play or use VA cards. The contrast is very well above average thanks to the technology used to develop this board. IPS glow from what you've indicated is minimal. For my eyes, there are no gadgets... and the backlighting is even. I noticed minimal DSE (dirty screen effect) when checking colors and patterns during a simple calibration. For those who do not know. DSE or Dirty Screen Effect is the phenomenon of uneven solidification of solid colors, usually observed when the screen is white, sometimes gray or black. It can be seen in other colors but not normally. DSE is often easily overlooked when viewing bright color images and animated scenes. Most LCD panels are affected by DSE, but OLED is generally not.
The uniformity of the display and color reproduction are really impressive. Very dynamic, even across the entire screen. Also in the corners. This screen isn't very bright, someone mentioned it's closer to 500 mesh. she is really beautiful. But not full screen brightness. The backlighting has some form of local dimming, which can be distracting when viewing dark scenes. Creates a beam of light that extends from top to bottom to illuminate the bright parts of the screen. So I keep local dimming as much as possible. But compared to other consumer IPS panels, I'm not that concerned about the black level with local dimming.
Now for anyone wondering. As mentioned, this is a free card, but don't use gsync with nvidia cards. This panel will start flashing and dimming even if the mouse has just been moved. What a mess. But with Free Sync, the frame rate is almost as effective. Heart rate response is good and smooth. The higher Hz range also contributes to pixel clarity.
Again, don't use it with GSYNC enabled.
The build quality is really excellent. The panel feels solid and the stand doesn't wobble much with moderate motion. If you shake the table hard, it will shake. But under normal conditions, the screen is very stable. Picks that hold standoffs to the back of the board may need to be pushed firmly into place. I had to press really hard near my picks. After that I stayed with her. I have no concerns about this. But make sure it is seated correctly. Rack setup in seconds.
I have no issues with DisplayPort and the cable works fine. I didn't leave the monitor on long enough to test the 90W USB-C power adapter. But they supply USB-C cables. Mine has a power cord, an HDMI port, a Display Port, and a USB-C cable.
I recommend someone else to help set it up. It's not very heavy, but it's a little stiff. The panel controls are generally a little awkward and frustrating to use.
Suitable for general gaming, watching anime/movies, office work and web browsing. This screen is great. The text is clear and easy to read. The ultra-fast format is expansive and immersive. At a decent distance, I didn't see any color shifts and just liked the field of view I had.
Some minor upgrades will be necessary. For the price it is a steal. I recommend it for general computers. It's still sharper than many VA panels, though the contrast ratio is slightly lower than most VA panels.
I will definitely try future Innocin products. I hope they can keep costs down and keep making great paintings like this. It would be a great IPS-like panel if they tweaked a few things. Still a great board. However, don't expect top-notch IPS graphics.
