I've been a fan of second screens since 2020, especially in terms of video conferencing. But the truth is, a lot of the things you work on are easier to do with a second screen. If you don't have or haven't tried it before, it seems like a great and handy monitor, a second monitor, or a primary monitor if you have a mini PC or something. Although I own a few computers, I'm not very tech savvy, so I can relate to that.
First of all, it is very easy to use. It comes with a small manual but other than how to use the case as a stand I didn't find it very helpful. But it shows how to connect different devices to the screen. This requires a USB, USBC, or HDMI output (these 3 cables are included). Therefore, at least some Apple devices and iPhones require an adapter. For your home laptop, USB C to USB C works great. Plug one end into a USB port on your laptop and a USB-C port on your monitor. Then go to the home screen and right click to adjust display settings. You can set it up as a second screen for your screen (so if you're sitting with a small group of people and just want them to see your screen, you can do that), or you can set it up as an extension, the left or right pane facing below. Some setups require the use of a power input (it comes with a port and a USB power cable), but the USB-C laptop has enough power to power a second monitor. Additional power inputs are optional or as needed, with some connectors required and others.
On the other side of the screen are three adjustment buttons. You can scroll and adjust brightness, sharpness, color, etc. The screen has two small speakers, I didn't identify them with my laptop, but I made them work on a small computer with this screen. It works, you can hear it, but it's not exceptional. If you enjoy listening to music, these like most portable speakers sound good but not great. Headphones, earbuds, or something similar will make your experience much better, but if you need to listen in on a video call, that will (or you can use the speakers on your laptop for that when you're on the phone).
The picture quality is good and clear, it's not HD but it's definitely as good as a computer screen. Again, I'm not tech-savvy, and if you're a gamer and need something that's high-res or responsive, this probably isn't your first choice. Even without the second power on, my computer is just too bright to see in a normally lit room.
- If you've never used a second screen and don't know how it works but have watched others use it, this is clearly a great screen. Easy to fold and carry, easy to put on, and works great. It may not be the "best" product, but it's inexpensive, well made, and works as expected. In my opinion this is a 5 star product.
