Review ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQN 360Hz QHD Gaming Monitor

ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz 27" 1440P HDR Gaming Monitor (PG27AQN) - QHD (2560 x 1440), Fast IPS, 1ms, G-SYNC, Eye Care, HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, Ergonomic Design, VESA Wall Mount, HDR10, DisplayHDR600

27-inch screen with QHD resolution

NVIDIA researchers found that using a 27-inch 1440p monitor can improve aiming when shooting small targets by up to 3% compared to playing games on a conventional 25-inch 1080p monitor. For competitive players, 3% can mean win or lose.

The refresh rate is 360 Hz

Competitive titles like VALORANT, Apex Legends, Overwatch, and Rainbow Six Siege require the highest frame rates and the lowest system latency. In games that count in milliseconds, the PG27AQN's ultra-fast 360Hz refresh rate falls somewhere between a headshot and a miss.

Highly sensitive performance

NVIDIA G-SYNC processors give you the gaming experience you want. Enjoy smooth, tear-free gaming with refresh rates up to 360Hz and extremely low motion blur.

Measure system response with NVIDIA Reflex

Competitive computer games are all about reflexes. Built-in NVIDIA Reflex Analyzer captures end-to-end system latency and provides accurate measurement of PC performance. Enter battle with confidence, knowing your gaming rig is capable of outperforming.

Dual mode for esports

Play on a familiar 25-degree diagonal screen at 1080p, or enable Esports Dual Mode in settings for a sharper resolution of 2368 x 1332.

Rich connections

Extensive connectivity options including DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 for a variety of multimedia devices.

Ultra-fast IPS technology

Three key features define the ultra-fast IPS technology that gives PG27AQN the fastest response time of any ROG monitor. It's designed to eliminate motion blur and give players unprecedented clarity, even on the fast-paced battlefields of today's competitive esports.

Ergonomic design

The specially designed stand offers tilt, swivel, swivel, and height adjustability so you can easily find the perfect viewing position. The monitor is also compatible with VESA wall mounts.

Amazon misuse of the bag led to it being stolen for $750. I'm shocked and skeptical as to why it's listed at that price, but it's a nod to the person who actually insured the bag.

I've heard comments about poor quality control like dead pixels and damaged backs, but luckily my device wasn't affected at all.

I honestly don't know where to start. I have tested many monitors like Neo G8, Alienware QD-Oled (DW version), BenQ Xowie XL2566k, LG Oled 27gr95qe-b, AW2723DF and so on. But I finally settled on the perfect monitor for me.

This screen can play any title, but only for competitive games. It's the fastest turntable I've ever played and the image quality is excellent. The initial power-on preset is factory calibrated to sRGB mode with accurate colour. Although it is quite dark, there is no problem with the settings since the brightness cannot be adjusted in this mode. The screen is definitely bright, much brighter than the regular OLED screen I've missed on a device I've owned before. It may not have the infinite contrast or black levels that are supposed to be good because it's an IPS screen, but let's face it, you don't need it if you usually play games like racing. I can't stress enough why people would be so obsessed with OLED if burn-in was an issue. I mainly play games and have static issues like UI and production work that I would be very concerned about because they are LEDs and I don't have to worry too much. It has a built-in G-SYNC module, but you don't really need to enable it if your device is capable of 360Hz playback. Somehow a 7700x/RTX 4090 like the OW2 or Valorant was limited to around 323fps, so I turned this out and beat the fps. With the high refresh rate, you won't notice any image tearing. You need to switch Overdrive mode back to Normal because anything above eSports and Extreme will increase the amount of ghosting, but overall it's as crisp as stillness, with a good IPS panel response time. There is some bleed from the backlight, but at least I didn't notice all of it. You certainly wouldn't use HDR without a local dimming area like FALD, which is a gimmick with a panel like this. It uses edge-lighting dimming like the G7, but it can also be disabled because, as mentioned above, it only works with HDR, a gimmick worth checking out. Most of the content you read or watch is in SDR format, just change the settings on this screen and you will get the best picture quality.

The settings I use to get lifelike pictures and games are:

  • GameVisual: Racing mode
  • Brightness: if desired, I set at least very high brightness (eg 85%)
  • Variable Backlight: Off (this is the trick I remember)
  • Outside diameter: regular
  • Monitor color space: Wide color gamut (makes colors stand out better)

No other settings that I didn't consider such as blue light, color temperature, dark gain, gamma, etc. were changed because these are all user settings.

Overall, this screen is ideal for extreme competitive gaming and content viewing. It's an IPS display with the fastest response time of any IPS (thanks to the ultra-fast crystal and dual voltage drive) and virtually no input lag (360Hz). If it's available, it's worth it for hardcore gamers.
