A few days ago, Google announced a new update to the Google Drive cloud storage service, which aims to improve the user experience and make it easier to quickly organize, transfer, and access files.
And to ensure the smoothness of the process of rolling out new features, Google releases features at different rates depending on the type and complexity of the feature, so some users will get the new update starting from April 12, while the update will reach the rest of the features. users in the coming days.
What's new in Google Drive?
The update includes new features and helpful suggestions for moving files and folders in Drive, including:
- When moving a file or folder, Drive users see three new tabs: Suggested, Following, and All Locations. When navigating to a folder location, the tab is replaced with a back button with the location name.
- Show details of selected folder path, add option to create new folder and new notification that appears when item you are trying to move is moved to empty folder.
- A list of suggested websites displays with the option to decline the suggestion to quickly remove the suggested website from the list.
- One-click file transfers are simplified by adding a new built-in button.
- If the folder is read-only, add a label and explain why certain files fail to transfer. For example, if you try to make changes to a file, you will get a warning that the file is not the owner of a read-only file.
These changes apply to Google Workspace users and individual account holders, but are being added in stages and won't hit all users at once.
In addition to these updates, there are new AI-enabled features in the Workspace suite of apps. Google announced a set of features based on generative artificial intelligence for several Google Workspace desktop applications, such as making it easier to perform many tasks and saving time and energy.
