For many years, one of the biggest problems faced by WhatsApp users was that the same account could only be used on one phone. Yes, you can use your WhatsApp account on other devices for example on a computer with (WhatsApp Web) or (WhatsApp Desktop) but you cannot use it on two phones at the same time.
You have to sign out of one phone before you can sign in to another, which forces you to backup all your conversations, which takes a lot of time.
This problem was eventually fixed; The instant messaging service WhatsApp has released a new update that allows one WhatsApp account to work on 4 smartphones at the same time, just like you use WhatsApp on a web browser, tablet and computer.
Therefore, this feature improves the user experience: Where previously it was possible to run the account on one mobile phone and three computers at the same time, now it can be played on four mobile phones at the same time.
To use your WhatsApp account on multiple phones:
- Install WhatsApp on your new phone or on the second phone you want to use it with.
- Accept the notifications and permissions requested by the app and tap the three dots icon in the upper right corner when asked for your phone number.
- Click on the “Link Device” option and a QR code will appear.
- Go to your primary phone with WhatsApp installed and tap on the three dots icon in the top right corner.
- Click on the Paired devices option.
- Click on the “Link device” option. Then use the camera to scan the QR code that will appear on your new phone.
Once you follow these steps, you can use the same WhatsApp account on both phones as the WhatsApp chats are synced between them, allowing you to send and receive messages on both phones at the same time.
In particular, WhatsApp confirmed that using the same WhatsApp account on multiple phones will not affect privacy because the feature supports full encryption between the two parties, including audio and video calls.
However, if you haven't used your WhatsApp account on your main phone for more than 14 days, WhatsApp will automatically sign you out from all linked devices.
WhatsApp has already started rolling out the feature in some countries and will roll it out globally in the coming weeks. So if you don't see it in your app right now, please be patient.
An easier way to link different devices to your WhatsApp account:
Additionally, WhatsApp has announced that it is working on streamlining account operations on other devices. Currently, when running an account on a computer or tablet, the user must scan the QR code displayed on the screen of the new device via the phone's camera. But the new feature allows him to use it on the phone. Receive a one-time verification code so they can enter it to sign in on the new device.
