Safari, the primary browser for iPhone, iPad and Mac, is designed to be fast and make it easy for users to find websites. However, Safari users may sometimes encounter issues when web pages are not loading or the browser suddenly stops working.
If you regularly use Safari on your iPhone and are having issues, here are some things you can try to fix the problem:
1- Restart your iPhone:
Restarting your iPhone can help fix some problems, including crashes in Safari or other apps. If you open Safari and see a white screen and can't access any websites, restart your iPhone and try Safari again.
2- Reset screen time settings:
If you've changed Screen Time settings or blocked some websites with Screen Time, follow these steps to reset those settings so you can access all websites in Safari:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Click on the Screen Time option.
- Uncheck the option (Content and Privacy Restrictions).
If this option is not enabled and you are still unable to access certain websites, try one of the other methods mentioned in this article.
3- Clear all Safari data:
If you use Safari frequently, you can store a lot of data in the app, which can sometimes prevent it from loading, especially when your iPhone's internal storage is full. To fix this problem, clear your Safari browsing data as follows:
- Go to the Settings app and select Safari.
- Click on the option (Clear History and Website Data).
- Try Safari again.
4- Update iOS to the latest version:
Whether you are facing issues with not being able to access certain websites or Safari browser has suddenly stopped working, updating iOS to the latest version can help fix these issues. With each new version of the operating system, Apple strives to solve the problems that users encountered with previous versions.
5- Reset network settings:
If you frequently experience network issues that prevent you from accessing websites with a Page Not Available error or an ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT error, resetting your network settings may help resolve these issues. To do this, follow these steps:
- Go to the Settings app and select General.
- Click on the (Transfer or Reset iPhone) option and then click on the Reset (Reset) button.
- Click on Reset network settings option.
This will only reset network settings and will not wipe any other data from the phone. Next, open Safari browser to check if the issue is resolved.
6- Reset iPhone to Factory Settings:
If you've tried all of the above and you're still having the same issue with Safari, you can try soft resetting your iPhone. This will wipe all the data on the phone but this method is effective in fixing most software related issues.
To reset your iPhone, follow these steps:
- Go to the Settings app and select General.
- Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone, then tap Erase All Content and Settings.
After the reset is complete, try using the Safari app before installing other apps on your phone. If Safari was working fine but stopped working when you installed a certain app, then that app is bothering you.
