How to fix notifications not showing up on iPhone

Notifications can notify users of phone calls, text messages, installed apps, reminders, and various other activities. But sometimes, some users may encounter the problem of notifications not appearing on the iPhone screen, which makes it impossible to keep track of important messages and reminders.

There are many reasons for this problem including internet connectivity, not updating the operating system or apps, etc. In this article, we are going to mention 6 easy ways to help you fix notifications not showing up on iPhone depending on the cause of the problem:

1- Restart your iPhone:

Most of the time, a restart will fix some bugs that cause transient crashes. If notifications are not appearing on your phone, try turning it off for 30 seconds and then back on before looking for other ways to fix the problem.

2- Check your internet connection:

If you are not seeing notifications on your iPhone, especially from internet dependent apps, you should check if you are connected to the internet and try to visit some websites in your browser to make sure you have an internet connection.

If none of the websites or apps work, the notification issue may be network related. If you rely on cellular data, you can turn cellular data off and then back on. Or turn Airplane mode on and off after a few seconds. If you are already connected to Wi-Fi, try restarting the router or turning Wi-Fi off and then on again.

On the other hand, disabling VPN can help solve the problem as these networks can interfere with the notification delivery process. If you are using a VPN on your iPhone, try disabling it and see if that fixes the notification issue.

You can disable the VPN connection in the app that provides the service or by going to (Settings) > (General) > (VPN & Device Management) then Disable VPN Connection.

3- Disable focus mode:

Different focus modes such as Do Not Disturb, Sleep, and Personal Mute for calls, notifications, and other active notifications. If you are not seeing notifications on your phone, you may have turned on focus mode by mistake.

To make sure, swipe down from the top-right corner on Face ID models and up from the bottom on models with a Home button to open the Control Center on your iPhone.

After opening the Control Center, you will see an icon indicating that Focus mode is activated, for example: when Do Not Disturb mode is activated, you will see a blue and purple crescent moon icon. Tap this icon to turn off Do Not Disturb mode, and the crescent moon will turn white.

4- Disable focus mode while driving:

Driving Focus turns off notification sounds when your iPhone is connected to your car via Bluetooth or when your iPhone detects that you are in a moving vehicle. This focus mode prevents drivers from being distracted by notifications, but sometimes activates automatically when it is not needed, for example, for all calls and notifications. To disable this feature, do the following:

  1. Go to Settings and select Focus.
  2. Click on the "Driving" option, in the "Automatic activation" section, find the "(While driving)" option, click on it and select "Manual activation".

5- Update iOS:

Updating the iOS operating system may help solve some problems such as: Notifications not appearing, so be sure to download and install the latest available system update by following these steps:

  1. Go to Settings and select General.
  2. Click the Software Update option, click the Download and Install button if an update is available, and follow the onscreen instructions to update your operating system.

6- Update the application:

Sometimes, the problem is not with the iPhone but with the app itself. If you are not receiving notifications from a certain app, there may be a bug that can be fixed when that app is updated.

Go to the App Store, type the name of the app in the Search tab, then tap the Search button. If an update is available, you will see an Update button next to the app name.
