One of the things that many users worry about is high temperatures on their Windows 11 computers, as high temperatures can negatively affect device performance and in some cases damage internal components.
If you find that your Windows 11 computer is heating up, you can do the following to fix the problem:
1- Update Windows 11:
If you notice that the latest Windows update is heating up your PC, check for and install a new update. The new update may contain fixes for problems that users encountered in previous updates, such as: b- High temperature problems.
Follow the steps below to update Windows 11:
- Click the (Win and I) button to open Settings.
- Open the Windows Update tab on the left.
- Click on the option (check for updates) and download available updates.
- Restart your computer and check if the overheating issue is resolved.
2- Check the background activity of the application:
Most of the time, high CPU power consuming applications running in the background are responsible for high computer temperatures. Even an application that uses only 5-6% of CPU power can cause your computer to overheat.
To check background app activity, you can use the task manager tool built into Windows by following these steps:
- Right-click on the Start menu icon and select (Task Manager).
- In the Task Manager window, open the Processes tab.
- Click at the top of the CPU data column to sort the list of apps by CPU power consumption.
- Look for apps running in the background and consuming high CPU power.
- Close these applications and check your computer for hypothermia.
3- Start a balanced energy program:
In Windows 11, you can enable one of several power plans to control the speed of performance. By default, Windows 11 uses the balanced power plan for balanced performance and good battery life. However, configuring your computer to use a high-performance power plan can cause your computer to overheat.
Therefore, it is recommended to keep the balanced power plan enabled to prevent the computer from overheating. You can follow the steps below to make sure it is enabled:
- Click the Windows 11 built-in search icon on the taskbar.
- Type: control panel in the search bar.
- Open the Control Panel app and click on Power Options.
- Check balance (recommended).
4- Set performance options:
If your computer overheats during heavy use, eg b. When you play a video game, you can set the Windows 11 performance options to the Best performance option to get the best performance while minimizing the visual effects. You can do the following steps:
- Click on the Win key and type: performance tuning.
- Click on the option (customize appearance and performance) that appears in the search results.
- Enable the option to adjust appearance and performance.
- Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.
5- Clean computers regularly:
Check and clean the computer vents if you find a lot of dust collecting there. When using the computer, place it on a hard surface to allow hot air to escape through any openings to prevent the computer from overheating.
