How to fix applications crashes on Windows PC

From time to time, you may encounter problems with applications on your Windows computer, such as: for example: a certain application fails to launch or the application stops working after a few minutes of starting. There are many reasons for these problems, including not updating applications or the Windows operating system itself, running multiple applications at the same time, or using the computer for a long time without turning it off.

Regardless of the cause, the following methods can help resolve application-related issues on Windows PC:

1- Use the troubleshooter:

Windows systems come with a built-in troubleshooting tool that can detect and fix problems like application crashes, etc. To use the troubleshooter, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Settings app and select System.
  2. Click on the Troubleshoot option and select (Troubleshoot additional errors).
  3. Next to the Windows Store app option, click the Run button.

Wait while the tool scans the operating system for problems. If the tool finds any, it will appear in the report and the tool will offer to try to fix it.

2- Update the application:

Application updates can help fix issues that cause crashes, as application updates contain fixes for bugs that may have appeared in older versions, as well as new features.

To update an app on your Windows PC, go to the Microsoft Store, search for the app and click the Update button that appears when a new app update is available. If the app is not available in the Microsoft Store, go to the official website of the app and install the latest version from there.

3- Close other applications:

If you are working on multiple apps at the same time, they can conflict with each other and cause issues with the apps. To ensure that running multiple apps at the same time affects the functionality of a particular app, close all apps except the disabled one. If it works fine after that, then one of the other apps is causing the problem.

In this case, you can run the running apps one by one to identify the problematic app and then uninstall them to avoid future problems.

4- Fix or reset the app:

Windows provides repair and reset features to fix problems that applications may encounter. If an app crashes, you can first try to fix it by letting the operating system automatically find and fix app issues without erasing data or settings.

However, it is important to know that the repair function may not work with all applications installed on your computer. Also, this feature may not help fix all issues with the app.

If the app is still not working after the repair process, try resetting it to restore the default settings and remove all app settings and data.

To access the repair and reset functions, do the following:

  1. Go to the application (settings), then select (applications).
  2. Click on the (Applications and Features) option, Apps and Features.
  3. Click on the three dots button next to the name of the application in question and select (Advanced options).
  4. Scroll down until you get to the Reset section where you will find Repair option and Reset option.

5- Reinstall the app:

If none of the previous methods solve the problem with the app, you can uninstall and reinstall it. This will clear any data or settings that might be causing issues with the app.

Since this process will erase all data associated with the app, make sure to create backup copies of important data. After that, you can go to (Control Panel) to uninstall the application and reinstall the new version from the Microsoft Store or the application's official website.
