Google is making Android more secure. Since the release of the ninth version of the Android operating system, Android 9.0 Pie, in 2018, Google has added a new feature that allows users to protect their private data from unauthorized people. The function is called lock mode. So what is this mode and how can it be used to protect your data in an emergency?
What is Lockdown Mode on Android phones:
Lock mode is designed to protect user data by disabling the fingerprint sensor, facial recognition, and voice recognition. So the only way to access the phone data is by entering the PIN, password or pattern.
And when you enable the Lockdown mode on your Android phone, unlocking the phone with a password or PIN will be automatically disabled, which means that you will have to re-enable it every time you want to use it, since the mode lock is not designed for everyone to use. However, you can activate it in Specific time in case of an emergency threat to your privacy and important data on your phone.
How to activate Lockdown Mode on Android phones:
To enable locked mode on an Android phone running Android 9 or later, follow these steps:
- Go to settings.
- Type: lock in the search box.
- Click Show lock options.
- If prompted, enter your PIN.
- Enable the screen lock option.
After enabling safe mode, you can use it in emergency situations by following the steps below:
- Long press the power button to bring up the power menu.
- Click the (Lock) button.
After pressing the lock button, you will automatically return to the lock screen. If I try to unlock the phone using the fingerprint sensor or facial recognition, it won't work. You can only unlock your phone by entering your PIN, pattern or password. After unlocking the phone, the lock mode will be deactivated automatically.
