In February of last year, Samsung launched a version of the mobile user interface (One UI 5.1) based on Android 13, which includes a number of improvements to the camera, photo gallery, multitasking, and more.
The Samsung user interface (One UI) is one of the most customizable interfaces on a smartphone because it allows you to customize your Samsung phone the way you want it with many options and features available to you.
Here are the main new features of (One UI 5.1) that you can use on your phone:
1- New battery widget:
UI 5.1 includes a new battery widget that shows you the current battery level of your phone and connected devices such as speakers, smartwatches, and other connected devices. It's similar to the iPhone lock screen widget but only for the home screen.
To access this new tool, you can follow these steps:
- Long press on an empty spot on your phone's home screen.
- Click on the widget icon that appears at the bottom of the screen.
- Click on the (Battery) option.
- You will see two different styles of battery widgets: the first one displays the battery status of the devices connected to your phone as a circle, and the second one displays the battery status as a list, choose the one that suits you best and hold it. Drag it to the home screen.
- The battery widget displays the battery status of four devices by default, but you can resize it to include up to eight devices.
2- Take a screenshot on the quick settings panel:
Samsung phones have multiple ways to take screenshots, and the interface version (One UI 5.1) has added another new way, you can now take screenshots directly from the quick settings panel.
To use this feature, you need to customize the quick settings panel and add a screenshot button by following these steps:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to bring up the quick settings panel.
- In the quick settings panel, swipe left and tap the (plus) button.
- Locate the Take a screenshot button in the Available buttons section and press and hold to move it.
- Drag and drop the button to the quick settings panel and then tap the Done option that appears at the bottom of the screen.
After adding the button to the quick settings panel, just tap the button in the quick settings panel whenever you need to take a screenshot.
You can also hold the button to bring up the screenshot settings you want to change, including: (palm swipe) settings that allow you to place your hand on the phone screen to take a screenshot, and a parameter to do so select a screenshot image format such as PNG or JPG and so on that.
3- The Image Clipper feature can remove the background of the image in one click:
In One UI 5.1, Samsung has made a number of improvements to the Gallery app, the most important of which is probably the Image Clipper feature, which gives you the easiest way to edit photos and erase backgrounds with just one tap.
To use this function, you just need to open the image you want to edit and long press on the image, especially on the part you want to separate, be it a person or something else, and you will see that Windows will prompt you to copy, share or save them in separate files.
Alternatively, you can drag and drop the part of the photo you want to crop anywhere on your phone, just like any other photo. This includes dragging it into any app on your phone, and you can drag it into Notes or Messages if you like.
This feature uses machine learning to identify specific elements in photos, such as: B- Famous landmarks, flowers, plants, some breeds of pets, and even birds and insects.
4- SMS calling function via Bixby assistant:
Similar to the (Screen Call) function for Google (Pixel) phones; The Bixby text call feature on Samsung phones allows the voice assistant to answer the call for you, asking the caller why they are calling and providing you with a real-time text of the caller. Bixby Assistant reads your answers out loud using a text-to-speech system.
Samsung introduced the (Bixby Text Call) feature in the interface version (One UI 5), but only in Korean, and in version (One UI 5.1), the feature also supports the English language.
This feature is designed to deal with unwanted calls, but you can also use it when you are somewhere and cannot answer the call.
You can enable this feature on your phone by following these steps:
- Go to the Phone app on your phone (Samsung phones).
- Click on the menu option represented by the three vertical dots in the upper right corner.
- Click on the (Settings) option.
- Tap the Bixby Text Calls (Bixby Voice Calls) option and tap the toggle to turn it on.
