Twitter's closest competitor (Blue Sky) ends up in the App Store

Bluesky, a decentralized project originally developed at Twitter, is now available on the App Store as an invite-only social network.

The screenshots accompanying the app in the store show that (Bluesky) is very similar to the existing Twitter system, especially when it comes to timelines and profile pages.

It is reported that the driving force behind the project is the co-founder and former CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey (Jack Dorsey), who has been working on the application, which is based on open source social media software, for several months. This protocol is referred to as the Authenticated Transfer Protocol or the AT protocol. BlueSky describes itself as a "United Social Network" where many separate networks are located under one hub.

According to Bluesky, RTP is based on four main ideas: computational portability, algorithms, performance, and interoperability. This framework aims to allow users to easily transfer account details to another Bluesky provider and give them more control over what they see on the web.

While (Bluesky) initially offered its application as a beta version to developers, most notably last October, it seems that the company now wants to extend the trial period to more users by making the application available in the App Store (App Store).

Bluesky's website doesn't provide details on when the app will open to the public or how many testers are allowed to use the app, but those who want to be tested can join the waiting list. .

In particular, the fact that the application was developed inside Twitter, after the company's business was handed over to its owner and new CEO (Elon Musk), raised concerns about its fate, especially on social media.

But last year, Bluesky spun off Twitter as an independent company, emphasizing that "independence is important to the project's success," adding Dorsey to its board.

Looking at screenshots posted to the App Store and tech site TechCrunch that tested the app, we think (Bluesky) looks promising given its separate tabs for home, search, and notifications, as well as a similar Retweet — it has a Twitter retweet function.

That is, and it's not clear when or if Bluesky plans to release its app for Android users.
