Use video calling applications such as: (Zoom) Zoom is more popular than ever because thousands have shifted from businesses to remote work. These applications facilitate online meetings, but as with all other applications, you can encounter some problems with the Zoom application, such as: for example: problems with the camera, sound, or the inability to launch your screen, among other problems.
Here are the 5 most common zoom problems and how to fix them:
1- Webcam or audio not working:
If your webcam or computer audio is not working during a Zoom video call, try the following solutions:
Check the zoom app settings:
In the pop-up window, which requests a meeting ID before participating in a live call, do not activate the following options:
- Do not produce vocal communication.
- Turn Off My Video.
In this way, you can place a call where the audio and video will be activated automatically.
Check your computer settings:
Sometimes, the problem may not be due to the zoom app itself, but to your computer setting. If you are using a computer with Windows 10, Windows 11 or a Mac computer, the operating system can prevent some applications from using your webcam.
You can check app permissions to make sure that Zoom can access your webcam and microphone by performing the following steps:
On a computer with Windows 10:
- Enter the word (webcam) in the search field on the taskbar and then click Options (select which apps can access your webcam).
- Scroll down and make sure the option (Desktop applications give access to the camera) is activated.
- Find (microphone) in the taskbar search field, select (microphone data protection settings) and make sure that (desktop apps to access your microphone) is activated.
On a PC with Windows 11:
- Enter the "webcam" start menu, then click the "camera data protection settings" option.
- Scroll down and make sure the desktop app is activated to access the camera
On Mac computers:
- Open System Settings and select Safety & Data
- Click the lock icon and enter your password to change the settings.
- Click on the "Camera" option which is displayed in the sidebar
- Make sure to allow the Zoom app and web browser to access your camera.
- Quit other apps that use the camera:
Make sure all other applications that use the webcam are closed. Zoom may not be able to use the camera if another app is connected to it.
- Install the zoom app:
If the above methods do not fix the Zoom app camera and microphone problems, you can try deleting and reinstalling the app.
2- The screen cannot be shared:
Screen release is an important part of many Zoom calls, especially business calls. However, issues can arise when sharing your screen. If you want to issue your monitor for an upcoming Zoom call, make sure you have a strong internet connection and use a cable connection (if available) for optimal performance.
If you launch a video call and have problems sharing the video, try to stop the video by stopping the "STOP" button and then tap the "Share" button.
3- Zoom suddenly no longer works:
If the zoom call gets stuck and closes on its own, try the following to fix the problem:
- Check service availability:
Go to the Downdetector website to check if the problem is with the Zoom service itself. Sometimes, there is a problem with the server, which means that the service has been down for a while. In this case, there is no choice but to wait for the service to become available again.
- Use the web version:
If the problem isn't with Zoom itself, try the web version. Problems may have occurred in the application.
4- The Takbeer meeting cannot be recorded:
Only the host can record a meeting to zoom in or have other people record the meeting. If you want to record a meeting, ask the host for permission. To do this, go to the list of participants, click the More button, and then the Allow recording button.
You can also use the integrated video recording tools on Windows and Mac computers to record meetings or specific parts of meetings.
5- Security and data protection issues when using Zoom:
To keep your computer safe while using Zoom for business meetings or other activities, please update the app regularly to the latest version with security fixes. In addition, an end-to-end encryption (E2EE) function can be activated for additional protection if required.
Hosts can require all participants to enter a password before joining, making it difficult to join a meeting.
