A Vietnamese website has published clear, leaked photos of beta versions of the upcoming mid-range Google Pixel 7a phone. And the site revealed that compared to the similar Pixel 6a phone last year, the new phone will come with a larger random access memory with a capacity of 8 GB and a screen with a higher refresh rate of up to 90 Hz.
And the leaks revealed that the expected phone will be similar to the Pixel 6a, with the same 6.1-inch screen and made of premium materials. The new phone also maintains the rear camera and a water and dust resistant design. The phone has two cameras on the back with a resolution of 12 megapixels each, the first is a standard camera and the second is a wide-angle lens.
The leak did not reveal the charging speed of the device or the size of the battery. The Pixel 6a packs a solid 4,410mAh battery that's very capable. Should Google give its new phones bigger batteries to support higher refresh rate displays without sacrificing battery life?
The Pixel 6a's 60Hz screen refresh rate is low compared to the Galaxy A-series phones, which have screens with a high 120Hz refresh rate, albeit in the mid-range.
Google is expected to unveil the new phone at the annual Google I / O 2023 conference for developers, next May. The company is also likely to unveil its first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, images of which and some related information were leaked last month.
The Pixel 7a is expected to boost Google's competitiveness in the mid-range phone market as it is a cheaper alternative to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, two flagship phones in the same series.
