Snap, the maker of the picture messaging service Snapchat, on Tuesday announced a new feature that will allow parents to limit the type of content their teens can see on the service.
Snapchat Family Hub launched in late May as a parental control platform that allows parents to see who their teens are communicating with while protecting their teens' privacy.

Today, Snapchat rolled out its latest Family Hub content controls feature, allowing parents to limit the type of content their teens can see on the service.
Snap said the Snapchat service is designed to differentiate itself from traditional social media platforms, which extends to how users consume content. The app has two parts to reach a wide audience: Stories and the Spotlight entertainment content platform.
“Our platform and policies are designed to prevent the distribution of unauthorized content, and we proactively review public content from Snapchatters and Creators before it becomes eligible for Stories or Spotlight,” Snapchat said.
The company said that new content controls in Family Hub allow parents to prevent editors or content creators from viewing stories that may have been determined to be sensitive or suggestive.
While Snapchat's Community Guidelines outline what types of content and behavior are strictly prohibited on the platform, the company announced that it will release its own content guidelines for community members whose content appears on Stories and the Spotlight entertainment platform.
The policies define what content is prohibited, what content can be promoted, which means it gets additional access, and what is considered sensitive and can be restricted through new content controls.
