I've never tried WiFi before (with an extender) but after using these Wavlink Halo devices, I'm wondering why we didn't use it before because it has drastically changed the WiFi coverage in my home. Setup is very easy once you have the app on your phone (you can use your computer and connect directly). The application displays the network status. WiFi does not have a default password and it can be easily changed. Both have a gigabit port if you need it. Interestingly, they both have 4 internal antennas that give a stronger signal and seem to work everywhere now at 100% compared to before. So far in the park but I guess it depends where your unit is.
These devices have a multicolored LED on the lid, which was initially thought unnecessary, but when it was blue and solid, it was just confirmation that everything was working. Red indicates bad news such as you have lost contact. You can turn off the LED light in the settings. Each unit comes with a 5V power supply. If you touch one of these devices, you can contact your visitor (which works), a feature that can be disabled.
