I love the idea of having solar fairy lights because we really love the outdoor décor of my home and there are always so many things to connect. It will be a lesser set of lights attached, and we can even put it outside without worrying about using extension cords. It's a victory.
I can't tell you how long these lights will last through the winter because I haven't officially used them for Christmas decorations (we're way past the holidays, so I'll have to wait until next year). I checked them out of the box and they worked right away (I put them on. They put them in a dark bathroom and because of the sensor it won't let light through unless it turns black.) My first impression was how beautiful they were and they were great. These LED string lights are made of copper wire that is wrapped in a flexible plastic tube and then run directly to the solar panel.
The solar panels themselves don't look as high quality as some of the other solar panels I've had, but again I've had some great solar panels before those that look cheap so maybe that's not an issue.
When you pack everything up, the light is bright (as it was when it arrived), but when you turn it on, it's not very bright. They're still shiny, they don't burn your eyeballs. I think it would be nice to go out on a dark night.
There is no yellow light on this line - "yellow" is more like white, although it is warm white compared to cool white. I actually like them because they are a little different than other lights, although I know some people prefer the more traditional blue, green, red, and yellow.
I've noticed some reviewers mention that plastic stakes and solar panel holders are cheap and will break when driven into the ground... I can't see anything looking cheaper than other plastic stakes. I've used it before, but it seems like it's better to drive the stakes into the ground and mount the solar panels on them, or drive the stakes into the ground without squeezing the solar panels.
I will update my review if I run into any unexpected issues with these lights, but at this point I have no reason to believe they will be any better or worse than any other Christmas lights I own. If these lights make it through the holiday season without inexplicably breaking, then they really are just as reliable as any other light, if not more so. Winter here is harsh.
