Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said Thursday that the company will release tools to give users more control over generative AI systems while optimizing models for general and specific use cases.
Altman told investors at the Morgan Stanley conference that the AI company will focus on building a platform for selling APIs to others and building powerful applications like the ChatGPT intelligent chatbot.
GBT Chat has grown in popularity since its launch in November. According to similar website estimates, the site saw more than 1 billion visits in February, up from 616 million in January.
OpenAI has launched ChatGBT subscription service where users only have to pay $20 per month to get exclusive features.
The company, which is backed by US tech giant Microsoft, has been working with corporate clients to train its models in specific domains, effectively reducing the "illusion," the appearance of artificial intelligence systems giving wrong answers, according to Altman.
Management consulting firm Bain & Company has entered into a global services partnership with OpenAI, enabling it to integrate AI into its clients' operations.
Organizations that work with OpenAI can use their data and create copies of their models to address data security concerns. For example, Coca-Cola is partnering with OpenAI and Bean to use OpenAI's ChattyGPT and DALL-E platforms to create personalized ads, images, and messages. .
Veteran entrepreneur and investor Altman said investors should value OpenAI as a company that achieves the goal of artificial general intelligence. He added that individual users should have more control over how AI works.
The company announced last month that it was developing an updated version of its chatbot so users could customize it to address concerns about bias in AI.
"We will be releasing more soon to give users more control over the system to make it work one way or another," the company said.
Altman acknowledged that AI systems can never be 100% accurate, and said he expects apps, including AI doctors and lawyers, to be available on users' phones soon.
