Microsoft releases Minecraft for Chromebooks

Microsoft Mojang has announced the Chromebook version of its popular game, Minecraft.

The company said Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is now available for select PCs (Chromebooks) and will reach all users in the coming months.

The company said that (Chromebook) users can play with friends using other platforms. It says it's currently offering an Early Access version that's only available on a limited number of Chromebook models with minimal hardware specs. Users who want to play the game must visit the game page on Google Play Store on PC (Chromebook) to check the compatibility of the game with their devices. The company has confirmed that it has restricted access to the game to better test its performance before releasing it to all users.

The company previously launched Minecraft: Education Edition (Chromebook) in 2020, but it was limited to subscribers to the Office 365 Education service, and the new game will be available to everyone without a special subscription.

The company indicated that it was aware of some problems in previous versions of the game, but confirmed its work to fix them and encouraged players to submit reports of any errors or problems they may have encountered.

Minecraft is one of the most popular video games in the world. The Swedish company Mojang released its first version in 2011 and after it gained popularity it was acquired by Microsoft in 2014 for $2.5 billion.

(Minecraft) is available on major desktop operating systems: Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS smartphones, as well as PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox game platforms. The game has more than 200 million active users.
