A major leak revealed the expected specifications of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which is expected to make its way to most of the leading Android phones in its class next year.

Although there is not much information about the technical specifications of the processor yet, recent leaks indicate that the upcoming processor may outperform the Apple A16 Bionic processor used in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max phones.

The leak, which was posted on Twitter, revealed several important aspects of Qualcomm's upcoming flagship chip. According to the leak, the next chip will be based on TSMC's N4P manufacturing technology, the same technology that powers the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

The information also shows that the new chip will use an octa-core processor, but the configuration is 1 + 5 + 2 instead of the previous generation 1 + 2 + 2 + 3. This means that the new processor will consist of one Cortex-X4 chip clocked at 3.75 GHz, and five chips Cortex-A720 clocked at 3GHz, two Cortex-A520 chipsets clocked at 2GHz. On the other hand, the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is equipped with a main Cortex-X3 chip with a main frequency of 3.2 GHz, two Cortex-A715 chips with a base frequency of 2.8 GHz and two Cortex-A710 chips with a main frequency. Frequency frequency of 2.8GHz chip.

Leaked performance tests show that the new processor is faster than Apple's A16 Bionic chip in both single-core and multi-core tests.

The new chipset distribution may mean that the next generation of processors will provide much higher performance compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is expected to feature an integrated Adreno 750 GPU, which will be an update to the Adreno 740 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, as well as support for the UFS 4.1 memory standard and LPDDR5 RAM.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon X75 5G modem that Qualcomm announced last month. It is the world's first RF modem system to include Qualcomm's 5G AI Gen 2 processor and Qualcomm's 5G AI Suite Gen 2 chipset.

Overall, the third generation Snapdragon 8 processor should be a huge improvement over the second generation chips. The company plans to announce the new processor later this year and it will be available for smartphones early next year.
